Physical Therapist JOB SUMMARY Plans, organizes, and implements Physical Therapy services for PACE participants. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assessment; planning, providing treatment; and teaching participant, caregiver or other appropriate representatives/family to maintain participant support in the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides high quality care and serves as a member of the PACE interdisciplinary team (IDT). Performs in-person assessments for participants at initial enrollment and as-needed ongoing as determined by the IDT. Assesses the need for adaptive durable medical equipment, specialized shoes and prosthesis. Ability to assess participant's home for safety and mobility. Recommend home modifications and equipment. Plans for physical therapy treatment programs according to recognized standards and policies. Administers physical therapy treatment programs consistent in achieving identified goals and according to recognized standards and policies. Confer with interdisciplinary team on participant care issues. Documents evaluation, assessment, plan and treatment rendered accurately and in timely according to policy. Measures effectiveness of treatment, document and revise plan accordingly. Educates and instructs participants/family in procedures, home programs and document training and understanding by participant/family. Trains PACE staff in body mechanics, use of equipment, transfers, gait patterns, and methods to maximize safety and functional abilities in performing activities of daily living (ADL's). Provides care and services in the center, clinic, contracted facilities, and participants' homes according to each participant's plan of care. Assists participant to function at most independent level possible. Develops and maintains positive relationships and communication with co-workers, participants and their families/significant others, and members of the community. Assists the interdisciplinary team members in understanding the significant rehabilitation needs of the participant and families Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to develop a comprehensive care plan for each participant. Maintains regular attendance at and participates in daily Interdisciplinary Team meetings, communicates participant changes and collaborates with team members in care planning decisions and coordination for 24-hour care delivery. Performs the duties of other IDT members based on professional licensing, competencies, and experience as needed. Actively participates in quality improvement projects and meetings. Fulfills the role of other IDT member(s) as needed according to licensure and competency requirements. Attends and actively participates in a variety of organizational meetings related to participant care or daily operations, in-services and community agency meetings. Completes all documentation of clinical service in participants' medical records, including initial assessments; reassessments; change of status; and other significant events according to PACE documentation requirements. Follows all Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines. Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about employees, participants, and families. Practices standard precautions. Maintains a safe working environment, following safety policies and procedures. Participate in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations, required certifications and continuing education requirements. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school of Physical Therapy Current license to practice Physical Therapy in the state Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance Two (2) years of experience working on an interdisciplinary team in a hospital, nursing home or community-based setting is preferable. 1 year of experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred. If this is not present, training will be provided upon hiring (If applicable for the role). Maintains reliable transportation and carries portable therapy equipment and supplies for use during therapeutic interventions.     Otterbein University is in search of an Assistant Athletic Trainer who is responsible for providing evidence-based, patient-centered care to student-athletes participating in NCAA Division III sports. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of our regionally and nationally competitive Division III program, featuring 23 sports. Responsibilities also include coverage of assigned practices and events. This role requires expertise in injury evaluation and rehabilitation, maintaining robust documentation, and demonstrating excellent communication skills. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve as a preceptor for entry-level master's students in athletic training. This position is an exempt, full-time position with a one-year appointment with option for renewal. This job description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications required for the Assistant Athletic Trainer position at Otterbein University. Assigned Practices/Event Coverage: * Provide athletic training coverage for assigned home and away games, practices, and other athletic events. * Travel with teams to away competitions as needed, ensuring comprehensive care for student-athletes. Expertise in Evaluation and Rehabilitation: * Perform detailed evaluations of athletic injuries, utilizing best practices and clinical expertise. * Develop and oversee rehabilitation programs tailored to the specific needs of each student-athlete. * Continuously update and refine rehabilitation protocols based on the latest research and clinical guidelines. Patient-Centered Care: * Deliver patient-centered care that prioritizes the individual needs and well-being of each student-athlete. * Engage in active listening and empathetic communication to understand and address athlete concerns. * Involve athletes in the decision-making process regarding their treatment and rehabilitation plans. Evidence-Based Patient Care: * Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based injury prevention programs for student-athletes. * Conduct comprehensive pre-participation physical examinations and accurately assess athletic injuries. * Provide immediate care for acute athletic injuries and medical emergencies both on and off the field. * Design and supervise individualized rehabilitation programs using the latest evidence-based practices. Integration with Team Physicians: * Coordinate with team physicians and other healthcare providers for referrals, follow-up care, and comprehensive treatment plans. * Facilitate communication between team physicians, athletes, and coaching staff. * Assist in scheduling appointments and ensuring continuity of care. Communication Skills: * Communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. * Provide clear and concise updates on athlete status, treatment plans, and rehabilitation progress. * Conduct educational workshops and training sessions for athletes and staff on health-related topics. Strong Documentation: * Maintain precise and detailed records of all treatments, rehabilitation activities, and medical histories. * Ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA, and state documentation standards and guidelines. * Utilize electronic medical records and athletic training software efficiently. Insurance Claim Form Documentation: * Prepare and submit insurance claim forms for athletic injuries. * Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation for insurance purposes. * Liaise with insurance companies, student-athletes, and their families to facilitate the claims process Facility Maintenance: * Assist in the maintenance and organization of the athletic training facilities. * Ensure all equipment is clean, safe, and in good working condition. * Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage. Preceptor Responsibilities: * Serve as a preceptor for entry-level master's students in athletic training. * Mentor and guide students through practical experiences, fostering their professional development. * Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on student performance and skills. EXPERIENCE: * Previous experience in an athletic training role, preferably at the collegiate level * Experience in a clinical setting and as a preceptor is highly desirable CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: * BOC Certification * Ohio State Licensure eligible * Healthcare CPR Certified LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written English skills including grammar. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be competent in general math. TECHNICAL SKILLS: * Strong foundation in evidence-based athletic training practices. * Expertise in injury evaluation and rehabilitation techniques. * Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills. * Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. * Proficiency in using electronic medical records and athletic training software. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of casting, splinting, and injection preparation in an outpatient sports medicine setting. Proficiency in fitting and measuring orthopedic bracing, specifically prophylactic knee braces. Understanding of athlete monitoring methods, with the ability to analyze data and adjust training programs accordingly. Familiarity with the ARMS management system software. Ability to utilize the electronic medical records (EMR) system. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of NCAA Division I policies and procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a certified athletic trainer (certified graduate assistantship accepted). National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certification at the time of hire. CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer or equivalent along with the eligibility for State of Tennessee licensure, at the time of hire.
