We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our Alternative Financial Services (AFS) department, supporting clients in the non‑prime and near‑prime lending markets. You'll design custom analytics, credit strategies, and machine‑learning models using both traditional and alternative data. This is a client‑facing, solution‑oriented role requiring technical depth and the ability to convert complex analyses into practical, applicable recommendations. You will report to the VP of Analytics Product Build, Innovation, and Scores. You'll have opportunity to: + Lead custom analytics and modeling engagements from scoping through delivery and ongoing support. + Develop credit strategies and ML models (underwriting, line assignment, pricing, early warning, collections). + Engineer features from alternative, transactional, and bureau data (e.g., recency, frequency, volatility, trend, and behavioral metrics). + Evaluate and integrate third‑party/alternative data sources (sub‑prime bureaus, cash-flow, telco, utility, and specialty data). + Conduct segmentation, lift analysis, and champion/challenger testing to assess performance and incremental value. + Develop custom scorecards, policy rules, and ML models aligned with each client's risk appetite and regulatory requirements. + Partner with clients to build end‑to‑end credit strategies that balance approvals, losses, efficiency, and customer experience. + Deliver clear, executive‑ready insights, documentation, and strategy recommendations. + Present results directly to risk leaders, analytics teams, and senior client partners. + Support model implementation, monitoring, stability analysis, and ongoing optimization. + Work cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, and Sales to align custom solutions with broader AFS capabilities. + Contribute to AFS best practices, reusable frameworks, and internal accelerators for non‑prime analytics. + 5+ years in credit risk analytics, data science, or advanced analytics, with experience in non‑prime or near‑prime lending. + Hands‑on modeling experience using alternative data. + Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, XGBoost/LightGBM) for feature engineering, modeling, and analysis. + Advanced SQL experience working with complex, and imperfect datasets. + Experience with non‑prime risk dynamics: thin‑file consumers, volatility, fraud risk, early‑default behavior. + Experience with model evaluation (AUC, KS, lift, bad‑rate curves, stability, PSI). + Work directly with clients and translate analytics into deployable strategies. + Explain complex models in clear business terms. + Background in financial services, alternative lending, FinTech, or specialty finance. + Experience with AFS data sources (Clarity, FactorTrust, MicroBilt, cash‑flow or specialty bureaus). + Familiarity with model governance, explainability, and regulatory considerations in non‑prime lending. + Experience deploying or supporting ML models in production environments. + Exposure to fraud, identity, or first‑payment‑default (FPD) modeling. + Experience mentoring junior data scientists or analysts. + Consult, client delivery, or solution‑oriented project experience. Physician Editors ensure that topics address the important clinical questions that arise when diagnosing or managing a specific disorder, present information clearly and succinctly, and provide evidence-based and actionable recommendations for care. Extensive editorial training is provided to help the editor learn critical skills for evaluating the literature and creating content in the UpToDate style. Training is overseen by at least two senior Physician Editors. All new topics are read and reviewed by the training editors until the new Physician Editor achieves a satisfactory level of independence. Training is overseen by at least two senior Physician Editors. Key Responsibilities * Partner with Solutions Architecture and Agile teams to translate product roadmaps into scalable, maintainable application architectures. * Develop reference architectures, blueprints, prototypes, and starter projects that accelerate delivery and ensure architectural consistency. * Lead technical planning, DevOps improvement initiatives, and R&D efforts to evaluate emerging tools and frameworks. * Participate in code reviews, providing mentorship and ensuring architectural direction and quality are met. * Champion software quality, craftsmanship, and best practices across all engineering teams. * Integrate security, compliance, and data privacy considerations into all architectural designs. * Ensure scalability, performance optimization, and high availability for enterprise SaaS workloads. * Collaborate with Product, UX, and Infrastructure leaders to align business and technical priorities. * Contribute to enterprise architecture governance by defining technology standards and design review processes. * Identify and resolve complex integration, interoperability, and scalability challenges. * Maintain clear architecture documentation, standards, and reusable guidelines. * Execute in-depth testing, validation, and optimization of architectural components. * Ensure alignment with organizational and industry best practices, particularly in cloud-native SaaS environments. * Communicate architectural strategy and rationale clearly across technical and non-technical audiences. * Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential to enhance product capabilities and efficiency. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). * 7+ years of professional software development experience, including full-stack expertise in C# and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, or Vue). * 3+ years in an architectural or technical leadership role delivering enterprise-grade applications. * Hands-on experience developing and deploying SaaS solutions in cloud environments (Azure preferred). * Strong understanding of CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, and DevOps automation. * Deep knowledge of Agile and Iterative SDLC methodologies. * Familiarity with automated testing (C#/Selenium), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and quality assurance practices. * Experience with architectural modeling and visualization tools (e.g., Sparx EA, Draw.io, or Lucidchart). * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges. * Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence skills with the ability to translate technical strategy into business value. * Proven ability to mentor, influence, and lead teams toward high-quality outcomes. * Experience in regulated, financial, or risk/compliance domains is a plus.
