Enhance patient safety by partnering with clinical transfusion services and hospital Quality departments. Act as regulatory & accreditation resource for TriCore s Transfusion Services. Work closely with appropriate medical and operational director(s) regarding decisions on matters relating to patient care, technical performance, and quality. Ensure patient safety with educational presentations and partnering with TriCore and hospital Quality departments in transfusion medicine. Responsible for the assigned blood management programs in the hospital systems. Coordinate assigned activities with other areas of the hospitals and with internal and external customers to ensure that quality standards are met. Responsible for ensuring TriCore s service quality to the satisfaction of the hospital, its physicians and patients. Services as the Transfusion Safety Officer for TriCore.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Quality and Risk Management Activities
1. Review hospital equipment used in blood administration for adherence to manufacturer s recommendations and safety
2. Conduct concurrent and retrospective audits on the utilization of blood products and their alternatives
3. Review informed consent policies for adequacy and recommend changes as needed.
4. Perform random audits on transfusion events for informed consent and compliance with the hospitals blood product administration policies and procedures at least annually for all TriCore Bloodbanks.
5. Serve as a member of the quality meeting for each division.
6. Participate in the investigation of errors and accidents with the intent to bring root cause analysis and action plans to the Transfusion Workgroup for the determination of appropriates of response(s) to error.
7. Conduct review of suspected transfusion reactions to ensure compliance with transfusion administration policy and best practices in diagnosis and management of suspected transfusion reactions.
8. Provide a summary update on regulatory changes to the Bloodbank workgroup, Operations Director and Medical Director as required.
9. Audit all TriCore Bloodbanks on an annual basis to ensure closure of previous inspection findings from any source and current compliance to regulations and submit annual reports to the Operations Director and Medical Director.
Technical/Clinical
1. Ideally, physically be on-site at least weekly at Presbyterian Hospital, Rust Medical Center, Lovelace Medical Center, Lovelace Women s hospital and University Hospital locations in order to provide availability to Blood Bank staff and Medical Directors as directed by the Operations Directors. Flexibility is required to accommodate attendance at mandatory meetings between all facilities.
2. Visit other Bloodbank locations at least quarterly.
3. Review and advise on policies and procedures to effectively and safely use blood products in compliance with published best practices, regulations and accreditation standards
4. Provide input on laboratory and nursing transfusion policies and procedures; review processes periodically according to regulatory requirements and/or identified need.
5. Oversee the completion of look back investigations; guide reporting of fatalities to the FDA
6. In conjunction with the TriCore Transfusion Service Medical Directors and Operations Directors, assess the Transfusion Service model at TriCore and participate in developing strategic long range goals and delivery models.
7. Maintain a working knowledge of all Bloodbank computer systems and be able to guide staff on use of such systems.
Professional and Educational Activities
1. Serve as a member of the Transfusion Committees.
2. Provide materials for education to physicians, residents, technologists, nursing personnel and patients on the benefits, risks, appropriate use of blood products and their alternatives.
3. Assist in planning educational symposiums on transfusion related topics.
4. Maintain a proactive involvement in related professional organizations (AABB and/or SABM).
5. Provide an on-site technical educational inservice to each TriCore Bloodbank site at least on an annual basis.
6. Maintain an up to date knowledge of new developments in blood management and economics through continuing education and other relevant sources. Provide summaries of new developments to Medical and Operational Directors.
Utilization Management-as delegated by the site Medical Director, some Medical Directors may prefer to perform these functions.
1. In partnership with Medical/Operations Directors and hospital Quality staff, establish and oversee a Blood Management program at each facility based on the needs of the facility.
a. Review current transfusion data and prioritize opportunities for changes in practice.
b. Effectively communicate the opportunities to the appropriate Medical Director and Operations Director.
c. Develop Blood Order Sets for Medical Director Approval.
2. In locations where a Blood Management tool is in use:
a. Oversee the evaluation, development, implementation, monitoring, performance and training of appropriate hospital and laboratory staff
b. Coordinate with hospital staff to update policies and procedures with all sections of the hospital
c. Provide financial analysis to Operations Director and Medical Director on the impact of the program
3. On a monthly basis, promote benchmarking and evidence-based practice in the transfusion of the appropriate blood products and their alternatives; provide comparative financial impacts on the alternatives versus blood component therapy to Operations Director and Medical Director.
4. Develop and maintain a resource library of alternatives to blood transfusion and educational materials The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology or appropriate biologic or chemical science.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of clinical laboratory & regulatory experience in Transfusion Services.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be MLS (ASCP) or BB(ASCP) certified. Must be insurable by TriCore s automobile insurance.

The Program Security SME's primary function is to provide expert-level multi-discipline security support for one or more of the customer's Special Access Programs (SAPs). The position will provide "day-today"

Responsibilities and Duties
Seeking a highly qualified Nuclear Energy Subject Matter Expert (SME) to represent The Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy (DOE/NE) regarding the AC-100M Centrifuge Development and Licensing. Core Support Functions:
Provide support through steady state operations with special emphasis on cascade performance, maintenance activities and parts replacement (as needed).
Perform functional assessments of Centrus' compliance to regulatory criteria of the Lessee Requirements Document contained within the lease agreements between Centrus and DOE.
Perform independent evaluations (operational and compliance based), readiness reviews, assessments, walk-downs, and field inspections at the Centrus facilities in Piketon, OH.
Support coordination of regulatory boundary activities with co-located DOE contractors, DOE site personnel, and with the NRC (when appropriate).
Support coordination and interface with DOE entities, Lease activities, and other DOE contractors for liaison activities associated with Centrus and NRC regarding regulatory activities.
Develop analyses, technical assessments, and white papers to support decisions by DOE/NE management at DOE Headquarters (HQ).
Review and develop analysis of reports, assessments, and technical/programmatic descriptions/proposals and/or cost analysis documentation related to uranium enrichment technologies.
Analyze DOE requirements involving Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) as they may relate to DOE lessees, contractors, and other federal agency activities such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission related to the ACP Facilities.
Analyze security/facility access programs, maintenance of security access agreements including the performance of technical evaluations readiness reviews, assessments, walk-downs, and field inspections.
Address general NE-HQ requests associated with Centrus facilities in Oak Ridge, TN, Bethesda, MD, and Piketon, OH.
Provide SME, project management, engineering and technical assistance to NEHQ regarding the project planning, execution, and deployment of domestic uranium enrichment capability and capacity to meet commercial power reactor, research reactor and defense needs, including the HALEU Demonstration and Operations Program.
Provide review and input on additional Special Technical Topics/Issues that might develop, the specifics of which will be defined and negotiated as topics/issues arise. This includes support for formal cost estimates.
Attend and provide review and assessment of reports and presentations prepared and given by Centrus on the status, progress and requirements associated with deployment and operation of centrifuge technology.
