PPG Industries, Inc. seeks an S&T Customer Support Chemist, Expert in our Oak Creek, WI coatings plant, responsible for supporting the research and development of proprietary paint coating products for PPG's Automotive Coatings business. Specific duties include: (i) providing technical/chemical expertise with respect to plant batch manufacturing, including with respect to quality control, and advising as to when chemical coatings batches require further technical consult; (ii) conducting paint property and raw material testing, including in response to force majeures or cost pressures, and reformulating existing paint coatings products with alternate raw materials (as required); (iii) directing technical activities to support the recovery of distressed assets (i.e., paint coatings products and raw materials) that would otherwise be disposed at a loss to PPG; (iv) executing technical support projects by conducting root cause investigations, trouble-shooting, and performance testing on new coatings products; (v) supporting customers and field representatives with solutions for color, application, and other properties adjustments, including reformulation of existing products to provide solutions for the customers; (vi) performing chemical research experiments to troubleshoot/answer specific production problems related to PPG's Automotive Coatings products, including with respect to color matching and coating development, coating formulations, and sample analyses; and (vii) leading multiple projects/teams.
Must have a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience in a related Chemist position.
Experience must include five (5) years with each of the following: (i) solvent and water-based coatings formulations; (ii) polymer coatings chemistries; (iii) automated spray applications of coatings; (iv) root cause analysis; and (v) process improvement/cycle time reduction.
Must also have knowledge of coatings and raw materials and their performance attributes including each of the following: (i) primers for substrate protection and performance; (ii) topcoats/monocoats chemistries including polyurethane and acrylic/polyester melamine coatings; (iii) preparing panel test series and conducting specification testing for customers and results analysis; and (iv) pigment and/or raw material replacement qualifications.

Provide technical support via phone and email for cases escalated due to the advanced and unique technical problems related to the application of AC500 PLCs and CP600 HMIs. Technical Support includes commissioning, troubleshooting, part Identification, and warranty evaluation, and in some cases, hands on product testing in the application engineering lab working on electrical equipment up to 600 VAC, while following safe work practices
Analyze problems and initiate effective measures for their solution. Coordinate activities with related teams to efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction. Collaborate with Engineering & Product Management to ensure the Technical Support team receives all relevant product releases and updates in a timely manner. Proactively contribute feedback to the Quality department regarding product quality issues, including reviewing failure analysis reports.
Lead technical writing projects to create internal documents for Technical Support and cross functional teams that clearly describe the technical issue, how to diagnose the issue, and the course of action to resolve the issue. This includes the development of tech notes, presentations, and legacy product support documents (spare parts lists, migration planning, etc.)
Collaborate with Application Engineering and the Training team to create and lead AC500 and CP600 product and application training content to develop the skillset and knowledge of less experienced Technical Support team members.
Execute product warranty while ensuring customer satisfaction and simultaneously achieving cost-control objectives. Provide labor authorization for Drives Authorized Service Contractors (DASCs) to perform troubleshooting and repair work on Drives at customer sites throughout North America.
Required to support calls from the Technical Support queue when deemed necessary due to peak call volume
Thoroughly document each reportable case in the Salesforce Case Management System
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Qualifications for the role:
6+ years of previous technical support, field service, or engineering experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers and HMIs.
Must be competent with PLC and HMI products, preferred experience with AC500 and CP600
Preferred understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (6 pulse drives, Active Front End/Ultra Low Harmonic Drives, Regen Drives, & Multi-Drive configurations, AC & DC Motors, Control system wiring logic, PLCs, and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet IP).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivery of new caskets to funeral homes in the surrounding area using company box trucks and vans.

Your role and responsibilities:
The Technical Support Expert - PLC & HMI Platform - provides technical support to ABB Customers, Sales Channel, Product Management Teams, and ABB Drive Services. You will be mainly accountable for:
Provide technical support via phone and email for cases escalated due to the advanced and unique technical problems related to the application of AC500 PLCs and CP600 HMIs. Technical Support includes commissioning, troubleshooting, part Identification, and warranty evaluation, and in some cases, hands on product testing in the application engineering lab working on electrical equipment up to 600 VAC, while following safe work practices
Analyze problems and initiate effective measures for their solution. Coordinate activities with related teams to efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction. Collaborate with Engineering & Product Management to ensure the Technical Support team receives all relevant product releases and updates in a timely manner. Proactively contribute feedback to the Quality department regarding product quality issues, including reviewing failure analysis reports.
Lead technical writing projects to create internal documents for Technical Support and cross functional teams that clearly describe the technical issue, how to diagnose the issue, and the course of action to resolve the issue. This includes the development of tech notes, presentations, and legacy product support documents (spare parts lists, migration planning, etc.)
Collaborate with Application Engineering and the Training team to create and lead AC500 and CP600 product and application training content to develop the skillset and knowledge of less experienced Technical Support team members.
Execute product warranty while ensuring customer satisfaction and simultaneously achieving cost-control objectives. Provide labor authorization for Drives Authorized Service Contractors (DASCs) to perform troubleshooting and repair work on Drives at customer sites throughout North America.
Required to support calls from the Technical Support queue when deemed necessary due to peak call volume
Thoroughly document each reportable case in the Salesforce Case Management System
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Qualifications for the role:
6+ years of previous technical support, field service, or engineering experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers and HMIs.
Must be competent with PLC and HMI products, preferred experience with AC500 and CP600
Preferred understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (6 pulse drives, Active Front End/Ultra Low Harmonic Drives, Regen Drives, & Multi-Drive configurations, AC & DC Motors, Control system wiring logic, PLCs, and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet IP).
Knowledge and experience in HVAC, Water and Wastewater, and Industrial applications for PLCs and HMIs
Ability to respond to inquiries from customers and communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written. Must be computer-literate.
Willingness to travel 5-10%, Requires Valid Driver's License.

* Prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentation.
* Provide QA/QC oversight for technical deliverables.
* Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemistry, or related field.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

What You'll Experience as a Technical Sales Associate:
Comprehensive Training: The TSA program is designed to give you a deep understanding of our business, products, and technologies. You will receive both on-the-job and formal product training.
Typical Duties: You'll start in inside sales, providing customer support, preparing quotes, and learning the intricacies of industrial automation. You'll gain experience in our engineering department and fulfillment centers. Finally, you'll have opportunities to shadow successful outside sales representatives.
Sales Skill Development: You'll be trained in consultative selling, product knowledge, and strategic account development-equipping you with the expertise to transition into a successful career in Outside Sales.

What We're Looking For:
