Responsibilities for this Extrusion Operator include: night shift availability required
• Must be able to use and read a tape measure
• Must be able to use calipers to measure thickness, diameters and distance between surfaces
• Must be able to stand for a minimum of eight hours
• Must be able to carry, lift or push work-in-process which could weigh between 50 to 100 pounds
• Must be comfortable using a touch screen computer
Qualifications:
• Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) are necessary to perform job functions
• Basic writing skills are required in the completion of daily production records

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all required duties to set-up and operate all company screw extruder coating machines to preform type of core, inner or final jacket coating operation following written and oral engineering instructions.
- Determine or select tip, die, melt and pre-heat temperatures, wire and feed screw speeds and other variables to meet requirements for job at hand.
- Blend compound, make machine set-ups, supply feed and take-up reels, thread machines and operate as necessary to coat and print material.
- Make all necessary operational compounds, take-up reels and other needs to maintain continuous operations.
- Run specified lengths as directed to fill specific customer requirements.
- Detect and report defective material, faulty operation and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow environmental, health and safety regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Prior Extruder experience a plus.
- Experience with braiding and wire a plus.
- Must be 18 years or older

This position is located at Shadow Plastics Only 3 1/2 Day Work Week
Shift: 12-4 Core Hours: Wednesday 12am-6am Thursday-Saturday 6pm-6am
At Shadow Plastics the extrusion line operator is responsible for helping maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment. It is an expectation that all employees communicate any health or safety related matter to their lead or a member of management in a timely fashion. A good operator must be able to receive and follow through with work instructions, and must ensure that work orders are done efficiently and with high quality each time. A big part of being a good employee and teammate is being at work on time every day, as such all employees are expected to maintain a good working attitude and attendance. Teamwork is essential for taking care of extrusion lines, changeovers, wrapping and banding pallets and other tasks to enable the shift to run efficiently. The operator must be able to work well in a team and individually. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
•Run the bag machines and perform all roll and bag packaging as required
•Make safe efficient splices on all lines, and assemble boxes as needed
•Ability to operate all lines
•Operate the core cutter
•Maintain a clean and organized work area
•Occasional forklift and overhead hoist operation
•Operate the Dalmec machine for specific lifting operations
•Segregate scrap to prevent contamination with reprocessing
•Operate power tools and basic hand tools
•Frequent use of utility knives
•Work individually and in a group setting
