UNDERGRADUATE Dietary Supplement Admissions Evaluation Summer INTERN/How will YOU create impact here at USP?
Prior to developing a monograph the title has to be established via Nomenclature and simultaneously Admission Evaluation (AE) determines whether or not a Dietary Supplement (DS) ingredient is admitted to the monograph development process. These two activities precede the monograph development process.
This project aims to support Nomenclature and Admission Evaluation activities related to dietary ingredient articles proposed for USP DS quality monograph development. The incumbent will perform a review of the literature related to safety and nomenclature of an article for which USP dietary supplement monograph is proposed. The review will entail collating information from peer-reviewed literature and information from dietary supplement product labels and synthesizing and organizing the information for use in AE and Nomenclature.

A fundamental shift in manufacturing methods is occurring with Continuous Manufacturing and 3D Printing of pharmaceuticals as alternatives to certain batch manufacturing processes. While we have done a lot of work in the past few years on CM, we still struggle to explain to our audience what a CM manufacturing line looks like, the equipment-specific considerations for quality assurance, and how different it is from the batch.
The Advanced Manufacturing Digital Multimedia Intern should be proficient in 3D computer-assisted drawings for technical and aesthetic applications. The Intern will learn about manufacturing processes' nuances, advantages, challenges, and impact on access to medicinal products.
