The Position
Pharma Development Data Sciences (PDD) is a department of over 1,000 data scientists working across multiple therapeutic areas to bring Roche molecules to patients. As an industry leader in data science, we have a strong commitment to developing open post-competitive tools that accelerate the time to insights.
Purpose
As a member of Data Science Acceleration, you will work on projects that amplify the impact of data scientists, working on tooling across modern data science languages like R and python to build tools that unlock patient data and streamline meaningful insights. You will be able to apply your passion for the continual evolution of data science to assess the wide ecosystem of tools relevant to data science, from AWS through to snakemake, and will be able to design, run and productionize efforts to help improve our path to insights

* You will work on software products to revolutionise the way our Data Scientists generate actionable and novel insights and will contribute to open source R packages and python libraries that form part of our data science stack
* You will be accountable for leading the strategic, technical and business direction of a Data Sciences software product or product family
* You will lead discussions on code design, considering maintenance, integrations, and extensibility
* You will collaborate with experts within and outside of the Data Sciences organisation to simplify, innovate and create efficiencies in clinical trial data collection, data storage, data processing, and data analysis

Qualifications and Experiences
* College/University degree - bachelor degree or higher or equivalent education in scientific, computer science, medical or relevant technical discipline
* Confirmed experience in creating research software (e.g. an R package) used by others and in advanced programming capability in R, familiarity of modern version control tools, software development tools like CICD and open-source principles
* Knowledge of Rshiny, python, javascript, C/C++, containers, AWS services like S3 and SQL/NoSQL databases is of advantage
