    The Position As the Pathology Lab RED People Leader, you will collaborate to set the focus, priorities, strategy, and culture of Pathology Lab Research & Early Development (RED) as a value delivery organization. You will be responsible for the development and evolution of technical capabilities of team members as well as define the strategy for sourcing needed technical skills. In addition, you will: * Establish and maintain communication with stakeholders in order to understand needs and evolve the functional team. * Responsible for the operation and administrative functionality of the team and department. * Makes connections across the Pathology Laboratory organization and within RDS * Make changes to team structure to increase delivery, enhance team culture, and reduce waste * Create a positive and safe environment where team members thrive * Ensures that Agile Teams have the appropriate space, equipment, supplies, safety and training * Out of scope for People Leader: Day to day operation of the Agile team(s), dictating what or how the work within the Agile team gets performed or delivery timelines Key Responsibilities: * Strategy * Ensure that the Pathology Lab RED team capabilities are aligned with the needs of the PL business and RDS Global Research strategy * Develop, maintain & communicate Functional Strategy * Designs Agile team structure to maximize value delivery * Maintain understanding of industry trends/competitors/new opportunities in the Pathology/Oncology markets * Maintain deep understanding of Pathology Lab customers & Oncology Patient needs * Provides input to RPC Program Lead on RPC program strategy * Partners & Stakeholders * Primary point of contact / manages requests for functional support (e.g. people allocation, space, skill sets) * Primary point of contact / manages and directs work package requests that are outside the Agile team's program/product domain. * Communicates with Life Cycle Teams regarding requests for functional support, or non-dedicated Agile team work. * Provides advice/review/support to Agile teams on any schedule and budget commitments * Identifies & screens potential external partners/vendors * Establishes & manages partners to provide additional technical capability as needed. * Maintains solid relationships with other lifecycles, chapters/networks, or stakeholders to be a conduit for collaboration. * Works with Facilities, SHE, and other site stakeholders to advise, communicate, or coordinate laboratory operation and safety. * Works with Human Resources to support any initiative, policy, guidance for our team members * Portfolio * May act as a visitor or consultant to provide technical guidance to all members of the Agile team(s), including stakeholders. * May serve as an observer, consultant, or reviewer of the Research Portfolio Program deliverables with particular attention to resource needs. * Provides a venue for Agile teams to update and communicate their work to other Agile teams, chapters, and networks. * Pipeline * In collaboration with the Research Portfolio Program Leads, plans yearly budget & staffing for program area(s) * Manages and directs external (e.g. Lifecycle) work package requests to the appropriate team(s) including managing and communicating changes to scope, budget, or resources. * Responsible for setting up and evolving Agile teams to address organizational needs * Talent * Develops & continuously improves their own ability to coach and mentor others including in Agile ways of working. * Develops & supplies required skilled personnel & tools - knowledge sharing & data management (e.g. wiki), collaboration/work management (e.g. Trello, ADO), technical capability (e.g. SolidWorks) * Responsible for providing both positive feedback, and communicating areas of improvement to team members * Manages and supports venues for employee training, development, and upskilling * Responsible for continuous improvement and modernization of department technology * Responsible for department health and morale * Establishes career paths & competencies * Empowers others * Hires and onboards employees * Engages & retains staff * Defines, models, and champions organizational culture * Assigns functional team members to Agile team * Ensure appropriate reward & recognition * Performance management * Function * Manages the functional budget, including capex * Defines and tracks functional OKRs * Responsible for lab functionality, including safety and compliance * Ensures functional team remains in compliance for attendance, timekeeping, training & safety * Champions inclusion and teamwork Skills and Experience: * Mindset: servant leader & coach * Experience that covers a large amount of the functional subject matter * Background in leading research projects * Experience leading & inspiring technical contributors * Good communication skills with technical and business colleagues * Experience working with Agile teams and/or trained in Agile ways of working. Comfortable leading and/or participating in Agile ceremonies and artifacts. * Excellent decision making and prioritization skills Qualifications: * Masters Degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and typically 8+ years relevant experience. OR Ph.D. Ph.D. and 0 to 3 years combined relevant post-doctoral and industry experience * Displays solid leadership skills. * Project management experience. * Knowledge and experience in experimental design, data analysis, and data and concept presentation. * FDA product regulatory experience is highly desired. Knowledge of quality systems regulations. Relocation benefits are not offered for this role.
