Job Description Architectural Fiberglass, Inc. (AFI) is one of the premier fiberglass manufacturers leading the industry for over 20 years in design and manufacture of custom fiberglass in our state of the art manufacturing facility in Cleveland, OH. We custom design and manufacture interior and exterior decorative fiberglass reinforced polymer (FTP) ornamentation for the restoration, reproduction and new construction industries. AFI is looking to hire General Factory/Manufacturing Employee to help our business continue to grow. This candidate must be organized, self-motivated, and able to communicate with professionalism. This is a unique position that requires NO EXPERIENCE. WE WILL TRAIN ALL ASPECTS OF THIS JOB. All that is needed to become an AFI employee is the willingness to learn and the desire to put forth your best efforts. This work involves general labor work. Some responsibilities may include working with fiberglass molds, sealing, waxing, buffing and possibly some sanding. De-molding the parts from the mods and taking them to the next designated area. This employee will also participate in quality inspection of the product. Employees will be responsible for cleaning his/her area after use and general housekeeping plus any other duties that the Supervisor may request. Description: We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Pitman to join our team. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are looking to contribute to the success of our organization. Primary Function: Responsible for performing work involving pouring molten metal, spraying, shaking, and setting up molds. Tools and Equipment: Overhead crane, hoist, sand, sledgehammer, molds, chains, various hand tools, shovel, etc. This list is not all inclusive. Material: Facing and back-up sand, gate tile, rods gaggers, nails, air set sand insulating materials vent ropes, ceramic coatings. Source of Supervision: Foreman Direction Exercised: None Working Procedures: Task #1: Mold Responsible for spraying molds. Shoveling is done on an occasional basis throughout the day and is usually sustained for 15-20 minutes at the most. Responsible for set up of molds per operational needs. This requires operating overhead crane to hoist and lift molds and place together. This involves using bilateral upper extremities and a moderate amount of force. Can be required to squat, stoop or kneel when accessing molds. Molds are hoisted together and chains applied. Mold is then placed in pit by crane operator. Pouring of metals requires a great amount of force, especially for the 28 ton ladle. Responsible for undoing chains at appropriate time. Responsible for shake up of molds. This requires removing mold at appropriate time. Task #2: Cleaning and maintenance Required to clean and maintain molds throughout the day as needed.
