Qualifications

Clyde Companies fabrication operator job description

This is a nonexempt position and our targeted hourly rate for the position is $18-20/hour and offers will be made depending on experience. This position is Full Time with comprehensive health and wellness benefits. Over time and weekend work is mandatory. Work hours are typically 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.

Summary of Responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • Grinds weld seams and nozzles using a belt sander
  • Straightens lance tubes using hydraulic press
  • Measure straightness of tubes using dial indicators
  • Checks perpendicularity of flanges using dial indicators
  • Stamps information on flanges using ½” steel stamps
  • Cleans inside of tubes
  • Verifies quality of operations performed and signs off on checklist
  • Uses overhead crane to move large tube weldments
  • Manually handles heavy parts
  • Perform daily maintenance
  • Wear assigned PPE and follow safety practices

Qualifications

  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • Ability use calipers and dial indicators to measure work being performed and ensure dimensions are within tolerance
  • Knowledge of basic shop math. Must be able to convert fractions to decimals.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle a very physical job
  • Overhead crane experience

Education/Training:

High school diploma or GED required. Cross-discipline (Mechanical/Electrical) familiarity is preferred. Periodic educational training will be required. Strong knowledge of computer operations is required.

**Job Summary**

Operate, adjust and edit metal fabrication of CNC machines to produce quality parts.

**Essential Functions**

· Inspect parts using all types of precision inspection equipment to validate blue print requirements

· Set up tooling and fixturing as required.

· Tig weld (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) different types of metal

· Set-up and operate secondary manual metal fabrication machines

· Inspect and approve initial parts and spot check work orders as outlined in Quality Manual.

· Obtain order information from designated form(s) provided by Team Lead

· Complete paper work assignments.

· Maintain proper inventory stock levels

· Produce a quality product, meet company deadlines and work toward standards of job assignments.

· Operate forklift as needed

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Qualifications**

**Knowledge:** Minimum of 2 years of CNC experience or 6 months of welding experience. Intermediate computer knowledge.

**Skills:** Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions, quality orientated, ability to operate hand tools, strong interpersonal skills, basic reading and writing skills, good time management skills, ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery.

**Abilities:** Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to read and comprehend blue prints and programs. Ability to accept and follow instructions for work priorities and work methods. Strong work ethic and self-motivation with minimal supervision. Ability to show flexibility with various work assignments. Must be able to work in a team environment as a positive contributor.

**Education:** High school graduate or equivalent.
