CERTEX USA is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Wire Rope Assembler to join our team in Brimingham, AL responsible for fabricating, inspecting, and assembling various rope products to meet high-quality standards and customer specifications.
Position Overview
Assembler/Fabricators accurately identify different diameters, constructions, and best possible applications for an array of products that are utilized in industries like construction, energy, mining, crane operation, space and aeronautical, deep-sea recovery and rescue. Items assembled may be constructed with wire, chain or synthetic material.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties
Review, interpret drawings and blueprints and capacity tables
Understand codes and specifications as outlined on order tickets
Calculate wire rope cut lengths, fitting requirements and identify the appropriate equipment to produce all varieties of wire or synthetic rope and chain assemblies
Splicing wire rope and fabricating chain slings
Understanding and operation of industrial swaging machines, proof testing machines, and forklifts
Attach proper tags and labels to products
Maintain Inventory Records
Report defective or substandard material supplies or product
Shipping and receiving of goods
Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner, and follow all Safety Guidelines
May be required to assist with deliveries when needed

Familiarity with industrial tools like cutting machines, swagers, crimping tools, and winches is preferred

This job operates in a warehouse environment.
This is a full-time position with standard work hours of Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week

* May set up, operate, and/or tend to robots that weld, braze, solder, or heat treat metal products, components, or assemblies.
* Read and understand fabrication blueprints/drawings;
* Fit metal components as per provided blueprints/drawings and specifications, ensuring all tolerances are met;
* Using processes such as GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG) and FCAW to fuse together metal segments;
* Operate welding equipment (manual or semi-automatic), metal shaping machines;
* Ensuring that all tasks are performed in the allotted time provided and in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and company policies and procedures;
* Basic maintenance of welding equipment.
* As required, operate metal working equipment including shear, press brake, roll forming machine, saws, etc.
Requirements:
* High School Diploma or GED
* 3+ years of experience welding
* 2+ years of fitting experience
Core Competencies:
* Experience and ability to read and understand fabrication prints;
* Manual Dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination;
* Able to stand for extended periods of time and handle heavy loads (up to 50lbs)
* Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and as a team
* Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions
Preferences:
* GTAW, SMAW and Sub-arc welding experience
* Reading and understanding blueprints
* The ability to pass a GMAW/FCAW 6G test.

* This position will be based in Moody, AL with minimal anticipated travel.

Welders will perform the MiG welding process on mild steel on assembly line or work cell as required to meet all quality standards and specifications. Welders must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Our Weld environment is a 24/7 operation. Welders may be asked to work 6-7 days per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform Weld Tasks to Standards
Perform Arc and Mig welding on steel materials for RANGER or Slingshot production.
Pass Weld Assessment to standards.
Ability to be trained on Polaris specific weld process standards and arc monitor systems
Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery Focus
Perform welding tasks based on production schedules.
Maintain a consistent pace throughout the shift with focus on quality.
Inspect all parts prior to and following entering workstations; immediately report non-conformance issues to group leader and/or Supervisor.
Accurately complete paperwork required for production records, including labor reporting, move tickets, SPC charts etc.
Perform quality testing and documentation as required.
Follow all safety rules and regulations strictly and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Maintain good housekeeping practices (5S).
Team Player Mentality
Step in and perform tasks on robot welding equipment as required by business need and assigned by supervisor.
Rotate between workstations as assigned.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Group Leader.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
18 years of age or older.
Basic knowledge of computers.
1 year of manufacturing experience or educational welding experience preferred.
Welding experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
Repetitive use of upper extremities.
Ability to bend, twist, turn, kneel, and squat.
Stand and walk up for extended periods of time and reach overhead continuously.
Ability to withstand heat for extended periods of time.
Use air/power/vibrating tools and perform strong, pincher-gripping motions.
Work safely around moving equipment, power tools, and industrial vehicles.
It may be necessary to perform any of these functions up to twelve hours a day.
