ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes Tack-weld fitted parts together Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal Set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences Straighten warped or bent parts, using sledges, hand torches or straightening presses. Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers Design and construct templates and fixtures, using hand tools Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to work pieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone Lift or move materials and finished products, using large cranes EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Three (3) years welding/fabrication experience required Ability to read blueprints and drawings Ability to use measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, depth gauges, and fixed gauges PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, occasionally Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently Ability to move around for up to 12 hours per day Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages and man lifts at various heights frequently WORKING CONDITIONS Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements Moderate to high risk of safety precautions Moderate to high exposure to production environment Wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather related) (plant specific) Ability to work outside year-round (plant specific) This position profile identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance. Ability to self-manage your time on projects for maximum efficiency is paramount. A verbal progress report will be expected every day. We expect strong attention to project deadlines. Ability to problem-solve independently as well as brainstorm in a team environment. Accurately cut and bend patch metal and/or install OEM components per all work orders. Ability to understand how individual components relate to the complete system in accordance with specific vehicle patterns. Ability to modify OEM or factory components as needed in accordance with the specific vehicle pattern. Must be able to be flexible - working on more than one project in split days. Meet Classic Touch Interiors end-product standards as well as identify for upgrades to the shop manager. 2. Parts and Materials Handling Maintain accurate and error-free records of all materials. Communicate missing and/or broken parts immediately. Ability to adapt and conform with a wide variety of premium quality mechanical components. Ability to research and assist in ordering of mechanical components. Ability to verify correct part and fit of all parts prior to installation. Inspection of both raw and finished product for conformance to specifications per work order. Strong attention to maintaining the integrity of the vehicles exterior and interior clean and unmarred condition during the body component installation. 3. Shop Procedure and Tool Maintenance Must be willing to assist in duties needed by manager to accommodate daily workflow - such as daily moving of cars or large tools for maximum efficiency. Own basic tools and toolbox. Use and knowledge of all basic tools and advanced fabrication tools. Quick learner. Strong understanding of measurements in all units. Test custom equipment to written plans. Maintain a safe and clean shop. Qualifications and Experience: 4+ years of experience in GMAW, FCAW, GTAW processes. 2+ years in a machine shop environment. Ability to read drawings and understand weld symbols. Knowledge of manual machining and experience with a variety of assembly techniques. Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced problem-solving skills. Teamwork mentality with detail oriented with efficient work habits. Physical Requirements: Strength and Stamina: The job may involve lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to 50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) is required. Manual Dexterity: Precise hand movements are necessary for handling tools, operating equipment and operating a computer. Visual Acuity: Good eyesight, including close vision and depth perception, is important for detailed work and inspecting finished parts. Job Functions: * Follow welding procedure specifications when welding * Train and assist with performing quality welds able to pass radiographic examination * Train and assist with performing quality welds using various welding process, such as TIG, GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, etc. * Train and assist with producing quality welds with efficiency * Train to perform or assist with fit‐up and preparation of welds * Perform or assist with post weld cleanup, inspection, and repair * Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns on the job site * Train to determine the required tools, materials and welding methods based on the project specifications * Assist with the assembly, installation, and repair of pipe components and systems according to specifications * Inspect all materials, equipment, and tools required to perform the work * Maintain supplies, equipment, and tools * Properly prepare materials by clamping, cutting, or applying chemical solutions to piping * Observe all safety regulations WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * High School diploma or GED * Formal vocational/technical training in GTAW- Gas tungsten arc welding and basic welding processes/procedures * Must be graduating in 2026 from vocational training (May/June graduates preferred) * Must be able to pass a multi-position weld test utilizing the SMAW process * Must be able to pass 2 and 3G plate welding tests * Must be able to perform stick welds on both carbon and stainless-steel plate and pipe * Must be able to utilize large weld rods (3/16" minimum) in multi-positions in an effective and efficient manner * Ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions * Must have a general knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards * Must be able to troubleshoot and have a strong attention to detail * Must have physical dexterity * Must be able to follow verbal directions * Must be able to read and write in English * Must be willing to travel for long durations * Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations * Must have a valid driver's license Equal Opportunity Employer Veterans
