    The Fabrication & Build Technician's responsibilities include, but not limited to, moving, building, constructing various features, conducting sub-assemblies, and installing equipment intro trailers, box trucks or similar. The incumbent is directed by the Manufacturing Engineer, but works with limited supervision to complete daily tasks. Areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Participate in all facets of new equipment builds, swaps and maintenance. As required, strip, insulate, build walls, install wall finishes, trim, electrical and mechanical fixtures and processes. Verify all shop materials and suppliers are available and ready before starting assignments. Gather and organize parts and equipment required for projects and maintain them in a safe, clearly identified location. Test and ensure all builds are properly functioning prior to customer contact. Generator, compressor installation and report. AC/DC electrical circuit troubleshooting, repair and installation. Fabrication of hydraulic hoses, pneumatic hoses and applicable fittings. Maintain a clean & organized facility ensuring all items are properly identified. Communicate with all team members; advising when supplies are low, tools required, process improvement ides, etc. Assist and back up other(s) and branches as directed. Education, Skills, Experience, and Knowledge High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience. Must have general mechanical knowledge, carpentry skills, metal working skills and electrical knowledge for basic wiring. Industry specific equipment skills with Spray Foam equipment knowledge a plus. Good interpersonal and external communication skills along with email, texting, etc. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ERP systems Work Environment Warehouse/fabrication environment Physical demands may include but are not limited to: Moderate walking, standing, and/or climbing; light lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Position Responsibilities: * Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes to turn shafts, journals, and threaded features, control runout, concentricity, and surface finish to spec. * Mill, drill, bore, and tap components on manual/CNC mills; perform precision layout and hole patterns. * Perform surface and cylindrical grinding (OD/ID) and honing to achieve tight tolerances and finishes on critical features. * Build, repair, and optimize tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and special tooling for production and R&D/pilot operations. * Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, isometrics, and 3D models; verify dimensions/tolerances before and during machining. * Program, set up, and prove out CNC jobs (conversational or CAM); select tooling, speeds/feeds, work holding, and offsets to meet quality and takt. * Inspect in process and final parts using micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, pins, optical comparator, and (as available) CMM. * Hold tight tolerances as required (e.g., shaft/bore fits down to ±0.0005 in; critical features to ±0.0002 in) and document results. * Deburr and finish parts to meet surface roughness and edge break requirements. * Assemble, fit, and try out tooling; diagnose and correct issues (alignment, clearance, spring/stripper force, galling, wear). * Collaborate with Engineering on prototypes and engineering changes; redline prints and suggest design-for-manufacture/assembly (DFM/DFA) improvements. * Manage toolroom organization (5S), maintain machines and tooling, and track spares/consumables; coordinate heat treat and coating services when needed. * Record time, parts, and work details in SAP CMMS; maintain traceability/documentation as required. * Follow all safety procedures including machine guarding, LOTO, hot work, ventilation, and PPE; actively contribute to hazard identification and JHAs. Basic Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent, 4+ years of industrial fabrication/welding experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or shop environment. * Proficiency in GTAW/TIG (stainless and carbon) and GMAW/MIG; SMAW required; FCAW experience is a plus. * Strong blueprint reading skills including weld symbols; ability to work from isometric drawings and basic P&IDs. * Demonstrated pipefitting ability (takeoffs from isos, offsets, fit‑up, and support installation) to meet quality/tolerance requirements. * Competent with layout math and precision measurement tools (tape, calipers, squares, angle finders, levels, lasers). * Safe operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, and common fabrication tools; ability to obtain/maintain certifications. * AWS D1.1 (structural steel) and/or AWS D1.6 (stainless) certifications; ASME Section IX qualifications for pipe a plus. * Experience with sanitary tubing/orbital TIG, vacuum or high‑purity gas systems, or cryogenic piping components. * Experience building jigs and fixtures; basic machining (sawing, light mill/lathe ops) for fit‑up. * Familiarity with GD&T; ability to interpret tolerance stacks in drawings. * Experience collaborating directly with engineers/designers; comfortable giving manufacturability feedback and executing redlines. * Prior use of CMMS (SAP preferred) for work orders, time, and parts tracking; ability to read bills of material (BOMs).
