Duties & Responsibilities
Fabrication & Welding
Set up and operate welding equipment (GMAW, GTAW, Laser Weld, etc.) for each assigned job.
Lay out, position, align, and fit metal components to meet job specifications.
Perform finish and spot grinding to achieve high-quality surface finishes.
Ensure proper ventilation and safety procedures are followed during all welding and grinding operations.
Production & Quality
Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, and setup sheets to ensure compliance with specifications.
Meet or exceed production rates while maintaining DeWys quality standards.
Minimize setup times and maximize equipment efficiency and tool longevity.
Identify, analyze, and eliminate causes of rejected parts.
Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
Perform preventative and unplanned maintenance on welding and grinding machines.
Assist with cleaning and organizing workstations and equipment.
Participate in training and team development activities.
Support the Team Resource roles in Quality, Training, Scheduling/Administration, and Throughput as needed.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies, work rules, and procedures.
Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Assist in other work centers as required.

Minimum of 3 years' experience in metal fabrication, including at least 1 year of welding experience.

Strong understanding of safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and machine maintenance.

Preferred:
Certified Welding Technician certification.
Experience with resource planning systems (bar coding for operations, time, and labor).

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand for extended periods.
Frequent lifting or moving of parts up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (with assistance or lift truck for heavier materials).
Good depth perception and visual acuity for inspecting workpieces and monitoring moving parts.
Exposure to welding fumes, airborne particles, and varying noise levels (moderate to loud).
PPE including safety glasses, welding helmets, masks, and grinding shields must be worn as required.

Position Summary:
The Welder II position is responsible for preparing, welding, and finishing projects according to drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction. Fabricating and rebuilding parts for use with equipment and machinery in accordance with prevention and/or to minimize downtime.
Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations

Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Troubleshoot and provide necessary repairs.

Operate hi-lo to move large steel objects when necessary.
Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.
