Weld Machine Operator---- Responsible for running various welders and other machines efficiently, inspecting parts, and keeping work areas organized and clean.
Adequately moves finished parts from work center using pallet jack to appropriate location.
Effectively assists in setting up work centers following work instructions and company processes/procedures.
Accurately performs and follows all general machine Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) programs.
Assists and provides effective and efficient training to other associates.
Efficiently operate welders and other machines at or above the determined rate set by management.
Proficiently sets up jobs and checks welders for proper settings (current, squeeze, hold, etc).
Carefully inspects parts using calipers, micrometers, gages, force testers, etc., and records results in the appropriate system. Accurately recognizes visual defects on part.
Fluent on Plex system keeping entries accurate and true (work center status).
Adequately completes rate sheets and submits them in a timely manner.
Thoroughly cleans work area by putting all items in appropriate locations.
Successfully completes Pay for Skills and Training Within Industry (TWI) programs.
Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.

What You'll Be Doing
Check during assembly for proper weld location and size, proper fit, and operation of sliding or rotating parts. Make repairs when necessary. Check for weld spatter, burn-thru, and other visible weld defects and remove or repair when necessary. May require use of oxyacetylene or plasma arc cutting torches or automatic programmable welder. Check completed work per job instructions and print specifications. Properly set and adjust all welding parameters to maintain quality welds. Also load and assist in welding wire (spool) changes.
Perform all job set-ups, rework on painted parts and finished products and must be willing to perform all other operations in the department. Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of welding equipment and fixtures.
May be required to record measurements. Clean and change torch tips and nozzles, and clean conducts or lines with solvent as required. Clean or change helmet lenses as necessary.
Report labor. Move completed parts to designated areas. Move stock to and from workstations, stock racks and holding areas. May be required to rack and un-rack parts. Responsible for schedule adherence, safety, housekeeping, rejects, and productivity applicable per Standard Operation Procedures (SOP's).
Responsible for both quality and quantity of work: Participate in team activities and problem solving sessions as required. Communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate team member. Must follow processes and procedures as written. As needed, document and/or chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback and production scheduling. Under minimal guidance, assign job tasks to Sheetmetal Technicians in their charge in accordance with approved or accepted data and with serviceable materials and assist with same, assuring that all work is documented on the forms set forth in the repair station manual. Assuring all assigned work tasks are completed relative to the completion schedule and department budget. Plans, lays' out, fabricates, installs, assembles, and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces on VIP aircraft in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist and instruct work crew with fabrication or installation of Sheetmetal parts and assemblies per engineering drawings or maintenance manuals on VIP aircraft ensuring all FAA and Company requirements are met.
2. Communicate schedule attainment, conformance and “hot” jobs on a daily basis at shift start-up meetings and attend assigned project meetings.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Perform basic and advanced weld operations (i.e. work set-up, material handling, part prep, load fixture and tool holders, etc.)

+ Measure parts with precision measuring tools including the use of a borescope.

+ Can read blueprints and sketches. With the ability to apply compliantly to all parts and repairs.
