Operates and adjust semi-automatic or automatic numerically controlled machine tools to perform standard and repetitive sequences, as well as unload and move material. Assist with all tasks within fabrication shop as needed. Welders are responsible for performing welds in multiple positions using a variety of processes in accordance with NAVSEA-approved procedures, in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities include operating, maintaining and troubleshooting welding and cutting equipment, preparing components through precise layout and fitting, and conducting quality inspections. 1st Class Mechanics are expected to independently receive assignments, plan the work, identify material requirements, and execute tasks efficiently and accurately.
