    Job DescriptionDescription: Manthey Hospitality is looking for a skilled Welder (steel &aluminum) to cut and weld metals at our fleet maintenance center and vessels. Job duties range from new vessel construction to repairs to existing vessels, barges, gangways, and structures. The right candidate must be competent in steel and aluminum welding. Must pass a welding test. This position is land/dock-based. Responsibilities Safety first; use all safety precautions when completing daily tasks including but not limited to personal protective equipment, eye, ear, breathing protection, harnesses, scaffolding, and ladders. Determine the appropriate welding equipment and settings. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements). Operate angle grinders and sanders. Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead). Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. General duties associated with ship repair and maintenance. Additional responsibilities as assigned. Requirements:Qualifications Proven experience as a welder. Must pass welding test. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.). Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, grinders, calipers, etc.). Knowledge of relative safety standards, PPE, and willingness to adhere to safety protocols and procedures. Excellent attention to detail, maintaining a clean and organized work area. Proficient in English. Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is preferred. Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings including blueprints. Take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. Must have reliable transportation. Valid transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card) and/or ability to obtain and maintain. We are a drug-free workplace regulated by the United States Coast Guard.     As a Welder here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for working on a team of welders and ensuring the quality and efficiency of welding operations. You will report directly to our Welding Supervisor, and you'll work out of our Palmetto, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various welding tasks, conducting inspections, and maintaining welding equipment, all while adhering to the highest quality and safety standards. This position requires training on 1st shift (7:00am-3:00pm) for an initial period of approximately 4-6 months. Upon successful completion of training, you may choose to transition to either 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:00pm) or 3rd shift (11:00pm - 7:00am). The starting pay is $23.30/hr + off shift pay differential KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Conduct welding operations in accordance with specifications and industry standards, ensuring compliance with quality requirements. * Perform fitting, cutting, and grinding operations as necessary. * Inspect welds for defects, maintaining high-quality workmanship. * Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure operational efficiency. * Follow established safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements. * Mentor and train junior welders to enhance their skills and ensure quality standards are met.
