Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI), troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on compactors and containers. Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnoses and repairs compactors, containers, and carts.
Performs moderately complex welding processes such as arc welding, gas welding, aluminum welding, brazing, plastic welding, and soft soldering on a variety of materials.
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing compactors and containers, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Conducts safety checks on compactors and containers.
Performs service calls for compactor repairs and emergency breakdowns.
Performs related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching of metal and plastic parts.
Performs standard layouts and set-ups of dimensions and tolerances.
Estimates time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts.
Inspects the quality of outside/supplier repairs and or rebuilds.
Performs layout operations, develops fixtures for one-of-a-kind units, and selects optimum welding process.
Provides assistance, guidance and direction to lower level maintenance personnel.
In the absence of supervision may provide container maintenance supervisory duties.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Wastequip Steel Division has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to support our New Lebanon, NY manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will be a MIG Welder with prior experience in a manufacturing environment. Pay Range: $21.44 - $24.92 (Based on experience).
Responsibilities
* Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks
* Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces
* MIG Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines
* Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch, and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame. Holds & guides torch at proper angle to cut metal
* Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
* Scarfs or grooves welds and parts
* Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter
* Other duties as assigned
* Employee must regularly stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift, climb or balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl
* Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move 90 lbs.
* Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, & depth perception
Qualifications
* High school diploma/GED/Technical School is preferred
* MIG Welding experience is a must
* Six months or more of related experience and/or training preferred
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
* Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading, fractions & decimals
* Ability to understands and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
* Ability to read blue prints and measuring tape
* Experienced in a fast paced production environment preferred
* Able to pass all EHS required tests and clearances

Job Description
Welder/Fabricator
Pay: 25-35/hr. + 10% shift differential for 2nd shift
Shifts:
1st: 7am to 3:30pm (Mon-Fri)
2nd: 2:30pm to 11pm (Mon-Fri)
Requirements:
HS Diploma or GED
2+ years of welding work experience
Knowledge and experience in primarily Spray GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), weld prep and plasma cutting.
Experience operating bridge cranes and forklift trucks preferred.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment weld test.
Welding Certification from a recognized institution (preferred)
Responsibilities:
Spray GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), weld prep and plasma cutting.
Cut, bend, drill, tap, and similar operations as required to fabricate intricate assemblies.
Operate bridge cranes and forklift trucks.
Must be able to read engineering fabrication drawings, layout, and weld structural fabrications.
Must follow written procedures and work instructions.
As an employee, you must maintain an average weld efficiency rating of 70% or better. The rating is based on historical data
Proper utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Work within the scope of MWI's safety policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
