Job Summary
Cut, form, roll and weld parts into assemblies in accordance with blueprints such as stairs, ladders, railings and/or structural and custom jobs. Ideal candidates will have the ability to complete projects on time, in spec and within budget. Reports to the Fabrication Project Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to all company policies and OSHA safety rules & regulations
Takes swift action to stop any imminent danger situations you may encounter
Promptly reports all accidents including minor first aid, property damages, and near misses;
Conducts daily workplace exams; identifies and promptly resolves potential hazards or immediately barricades area or equipment and contacts NAMS and/or the customers safety team to resolve
Fabricates steel and other metal parts according to blueprints
Layout
Uses measuring tools to inspect work
Preassembles fabricated items
Sets up and operates plasma table, press brakes, shear, metal saw, iron worker, plate rolls, welding machines (GMAW, SMAW, GTAW), milling machines, and lathe
Maintains tools and equipment
Practices good housekeeping; keeps work area clean and organized
Assists with fabrication/machining tasks as assigned
Assists with installation in the field as needed
Other projects and duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; completion of a technical trade program and/or certification preferred
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a machine shop, or other industrial setting
Basic math skills
Strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others
Ability to communicate effectively including interpersonal skills; must be a team player
Attention to detail
Good physical condition and stamina
Must have own tools/tool box
Valid Drivers License with an acceptable driving record

Welding ¼" to 1" steel using FCAW and occasionally SMAW

Tack welding with stick and semi-automatic welding equipment (preferred)

Day Shift: Tuesday - Friday (5:00am - 3:30 pm) *Mondays Off
Compensation: $20 - $24/hr.
Responsibilities
Tig welding 90% and mig welding 10% using multiple types of materials (steel, galvanized, and a range of stainless) Welding teams of two Associates per project.
Properly set up welding machines
Preparation before Welding: 70% consists of ripping and trimming various specs of wire belts.
Clean welds to check for imperfections.
Accuracy with alignment, dimensions, materials, number of components, and general inspection requirements of metal chain drive belts.
Accurate interpretation of work orders and collaboration with co-workers and QA associates.
Work within the parameters of an estimate and work order.
Wire crimping and machine operating. Training will be provided.
Qualifications
One-year certificate from college or technical school. or three to six months of related experience and/or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred but not required
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions, read and interpret
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively and present information in small groups of fellow Associates
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems.
Ability to use measurement tools such as a tape measure and occasionally, a dial caliber, plus welding, and torch equipment
Attention to all safety policies, programs, and practices is a must
Basic computer skills are needed for reviewing and performing shop orders.

Manufacturing Mechanic / Entry Level Welder

Atlantic Design, Inc is an established leader in the design of custom equipment for the blasting and coating industry. We are currently seeking Manufacturing Mechanics with a strong work ethic for our growing company in the Baltimore area. This is a full-time position with benefits.
Mechanics are responsible for a variety of mechanical and welding tasks in order to assemble stock parts and install pre-fabricated structural components in the building of our equipment. Duties include joining, repairing, and performing light fabrication of metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding / fitting / fabrication tools. Must maintain productivity and quality output.

Expectations / Qualifications:
Some relevant mechanical and manufacturing experience required.
Training and/or prior experience with Mig welding, to include a basic understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
High School diploma or GED.
Good general math skills and ability to read tape measure.
Strong hand/power tool knowledge and experience.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Dependable with strong attention to detail.
Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols preferred.
Must be capable of physical demands of the position including walking, standing, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and lifting/moving (up to 50 pounds).
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, recognizing various sounds and temperatures.
Must have a driver's license.
Must be willing to work overtime.
Must be able to pass Drug screening test.
Starting pay will be $20 to $23 per hour, depending on experience and training needed. We may be willing to pay more based on applicable mechanical and mig welding work experiences (we do conduct a weld test).

Our fabrication shop produces high-quality steel components for commercial buildings, institutional facilities, and custom structural applications.
Our Apprentice Fabrication Welder plays a key role in producing steel components that meet precise specifications for a variety of construction and infrastructure projects. This shop-based position requires proficiency in multiple welding processes, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
· Fabricate and weld steel components using GMAW (MIG), SMAW (Stick), and FCAW (Flux Core) processes.
· Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
· Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, and presses.
· Perform layout and fit-up of steel assemblies prior to welding.
· Conduct visual inspections and measurements to ensure weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
· Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
· Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized shop environment.
· Collaborate with supervisors and project teams to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in structural steel fabrication or welding (current enrollment in CTC or CC welding program can substitute for experience).
· Proficiency in GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding techniques.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
· Familiarity with fabrication shop tools and equipment.
· Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime or weekends when needed.
· Willingness and ability to obtain certifications required for specific tasks and equipment operation.
· Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and shop safety practices.
