GV Challenge Course Facilitator, Garfield County Outdoors
The Grand Valley Challenge Course is providing a unique educational opportunity for Garfield 16 students/staff and people of our community. This course is designed to have a transference of knowledge through a stressful experience. Each group that comes to this course, whether Garfield 16 students or participants from outside of the school district, gets a customized program based on the objectives they have identified.
This position is a Garfield County School District 16 position and will be an as needed position, based on when the programs are scheduled and the facilitator is available. This person will have to be proactive in signing up for programs. This person will need to be available for a mandatory ACCT certification from July 31 to August 4, 2025. This certification will be paid for by the District, and the facilitator will receive $25 per hour for attending the five day training. Each year this person will need to facilitate at least 50 hours to maintain that certification. Each year the Grand Valley Challenge Course hosts approximately 20 events from April-November. Facilitators are required to attend a minimum of six events per year.
Responsibilities and duties include (but are not limited to):
Effectively pass the week long ACCT certification and be confident in abilities.
Follow all challenge course policies and procedures
Facilitate groups safely through sequential programming on low and high ropes courses that may be needing assistance in teamwork, problem solving, social wellness, and having fun.
Monitor participant safety and well-being at the forefront at all times.
Maintain schedule flexibility to facilitate programs during the week and/or weekends on an as needed basis.
Conduct routine safety inspections prior to operation
Write and co-plan lessons for various age groups given specific learning outcomes on the challenge course
Develop trusted relationships with other facilitators.
Work with Outdoor Education Coordinator to schedule programs and trainings
Perform other tasks as required by the Outdoor Ed. Coordinator and Garfield 16.
Qualifications:
Highschool diploma
Experience in education
Physical ability to climb ropes course, carry equipment and work outdoors
Experience working with youth and adults in an outdoor setting.
Good customer relations
Excellent communication, instructional and leadership skills.
First aid and CPR certified recommended
Flexible and creative.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the building; supervising the custodial team; communicating with building staff regarding cleaning, repairs, or special events; performing minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work; maintaining, operating and testing building systems; ordering custodial and maintenance supplies; and maintaining and monitoring the building custodial and maintenance supply budgets.
DUTIES:
Open school, set up cafeteria and kitchen for breakfast, lunch and snacks, check boiler and clean assigned area.
Perform internal cleaning and maintenance including vacuuming,mopping, waxing, buffing and stripping floors, painting walls and cleaning walls, windows, restrooms, mirrors and other common areas.
Complete work orders by performing minor repairs or adjustments including plumbing, repairing locks, carpentry, replacing light bulbs and ballasts, repairing or replacing door closers and dusting as needed.
Supervise custodial team including directing work, training and assisting with discipline. Schedule staff and overtime.
Set up for events, assemble furniture and equipment, load laminator, drain compressor, spot buff floors, shampoo carpets and report workorders.
Perform work outdoors including cleaning roof drains, shoveling snow, raking leaves, picking up trash and checking playground equipment as dictated by District policy.
Assist building staff with fire and tornado drills as dictated by District and building policy. Assist with emergencies as needed.
Walk building grounds and report vandalism and security problems and create work orders as dictated by District policy.
Assist building staff as needed including cleaning up messes, storing supplies, lifting and moving, cleaning graffiti and adjusting furniture, and assist with other tasks as needed.
Order and stock custodial and maintenance supplies.
Evaluate custodial equipment for defects and service, Order parts and repair or send out for repair if needed.
Attend training classes on asbestos, chemical use, new supplies and techniques.

Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive staff support including task response, document review and development, training plan validation, and SAP policy integration.

Minimum Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance - TS/SCI eligibility preferred
Minimum of eight years of experience in exercise planning, facilitation, and execution within military, defense, or comparable operational environments.
Demonstrated expertise in developing operational objectives, defining performance measures, and ensuring successful exercise outcomes.
Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with joint, interagency, and multinational partners is highly preferred.
CERTIFICATION: Professional Military Education (PME) or Joint Exercise Planner certification is preferred. Additional certifications in project or exercise planning, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP), are highly desirable and demonstrate advanced expertise in exercise design and execution.

Program Responsibilities
Instruct & supervise all ropes activities (including but not limited to high ropes, low ropes, and zip line) with groups of varying sizes. Ensuring safety and adaptations to meet the needs of all participants.
Camper Leadership & Supervision
During ropes activities or when assigned as needed, act ‘in loco parentis' and guide a group of campers during overnight camp sessions.
Support & counsel campers in daily living, camp activities, and developing peer relationships.
Staff Leadership & Supervision
Train & orient of proper use of specialized areas, materials, and delivery of program.
Verify ropes & general staff competence before assigning them to participate in ropes activities or a supervisory role. Monitor their performance throughout the season.
Administration
Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner.
Work on the development, review, and assist in the creation of daily, weekly, and activity schedules, in cooperation with other staff, based on camp program, camper planning, and camp goals.
Provide & participate in camper and staff feedback forms as necessary for the overall camp's strategic planning.
Participate in regular staff meetings and training for planning purposes, communication resolutions, and carrying out assignments.
Coordinate and communicate schedules to campers & staff as necessary.
Carry out ongoing observations to assure that goals and expectations of leadership & program delivery are positive and appropriate.
Interact with digital systems including WorkBright, Slack, Instagram, & Facebook.
Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and campers.
Follow policies, procedures, and standards set by the American Camping Association, Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, and other certifying industry organizations.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards.

Program activities are carried out in the out-of-doors often in inclement weather.
Willing to be on-call at all times, for health, emergency purposes, camper supervision, and program implementation.
Required to live on-site in shared housing. (Staff living quarters are shared with other staff and/or campers).
Requires extensive walking/hiking >2miles/day over uneven and unpaved terrain.
Able to carry, lift and/or transfer at least 75 pounds.

ProSidian Seeks a Meeting Facilitator (FS2) (Key Personnel | Program Manager - Exempt 874-1 Consultant) located: CONUS - Durango CO to provide meeting facilitation support to fulfill requirements for a Facilitation Support Services project with the USDA San Juan National Forest - Southwest Colorado Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program's (CFLRP) governance group. The Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP), established in 2009, is one policy initiative to encourage and support innovative restoration projects that address the risk of large-scale issues such as wildfire risk reduction, watershed protection and restoration, and the spread of invasive species, insect infestation, and disease.
The ProSidian Facilitation Specialist will organize, facilitate, and document meetings of the Coordinating Council, Full Stakeholder meetings, and Projects and Places Committee meetings for at least one year. Other committee chairs may request facilitation support if needed; these requests are submitted to the Coordinating Council. This additional facilitation support will be limited to a total of three meetings over the course of the contract year. The facilitator will work with committee chairs to develop agendas for committee meetings. Committee chairs will not participate in running meetings if the facilitator is facilitating.
