Job Purpose
As an Engineer within Seat and Package Development Department you are expected to provide logical designs as part of a project team supporting model developments. Working with project team members and cross-functionally, you are expected to learn, grow, and develop your know-how and engineering skills.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering Solution Design - Draft engineering solutions for an assigned component / part (or more complex parts with supervision) and the associated drawings and validation processes, to gather data and provide feedback on their feasibility, costs, quality, and performance
Engineering Specifications - Carry out a range of activities under the direct guidance and supervision of more senior engineers to draft engineering specifications for an assigned component / part and the evaluation of their effectiveness, to inform manufacturing work in the organization and / or of its suppliers. Data Collection and Analysis - Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
Integration & Correlation - Work to collaborate and integrate your design into the vehicle with other groups under the direct supervision of more senior engineers. Learn from interactions with other groups (i.e. design, testing, manufacturing, styling, service) for the assignment at hand.
Supplier Management - Work with existing suppliers to mature designs and address issues in a timely manner to achieve project requirements.
Documentation - Prepare logical and conclusive documentation for review by more senior engineers to record and submit all necessary development / testing / research information as the respective activities mature.
Project Management - Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals such as schedule, cost, investment, or weight. Provide regular updates and contribute in project team meetings.
Personal Development - Develop own expertise and capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. The Rotating Machinery Mechanical Design Engineer is key in coordinating the resources and activities required to support new designs, design reviews, detailed analysis, and work instructions to produce top of the line quality
products that meet customer requirements.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Own design activities through life of development programs (from concept through detail design to production release).
+ Develop CAD 3D models and associated drawings and other documentation.
+ Design high speed rotating assemblies including shafts, housings, bearing cooling flow paths, seals, etc.
+ Support high speed bearing selection and design.
+ Support strategic new business opportunities and IR&D efforts including rapid iterations to at least a preliminary machine cross section
+ Support structural analysis team in generating deliverables such as rotor dynamics analysis and containment analysis.
+ Work closely with the Systems Engineer, performance engineers, aerodynamicists, structural engineers, and program team to ensure designs meet technical and program requirements.
+ Develop and maintain standard engineering methods and tools used to develop new designs.
+ Manage the development and implementation of new designs through design analysis, risk mitigation, review of safety factors & stack-ups, reliability tools, schedules, and design reviews.
+ Verify designs have adequate Safety Factors prior to releasing to production. Work with customer/ redesign if required to obtain producible designs.
+ Collaborate closely with customers to ensure product performance and integration into end platform.
+ Review and approve documentation for transition from prototype to production.
+ Provide engineering support to trouble shoot and diagnose non-performing product.
+ When assigned, oversee the failure analysis process providing support and final review of all reports.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
+ **Must have a minimum 5 years** **experience in the mechanical layout and design of high-speed turbomachinery (speed greater than 30,000 RPM) for aerospace applications including axial fans, centrifugal blowers, centrifugal and/or mixed flow compressors, and radial inflow and axial turbines. Plus experience with designing internal machine gas paths and seals for motor and bearing cooling**
+ Willingness to travel up to 10%
**Desired Characteristics**
+ Minimum 1 year of CAD experience (preferably in SolidWorks and/or NX)
+ Experience with PDM Vault and / or Teamcenter
+ Experience with Engineering Drawings utilizing GD&T
+ Working knowledge of key aerospace technical disciplines including mechanical design, materials, modeling/documentation, structural analysis, thermal fluid sciences, electrical systems, system controls, embedded controls, development testing and analysis, qualification analysis and testing
+ Understanding of aerospace requirements management methodologies and processes - traceability, verification, and validation.
+ Functional understanding of major aircraft systems: environmental control systems, powerplant, electrical, hydraulics, controls, avionics, power generation, and structures

The base pay range for this position is $120,000.00 - 190,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. Mechanical Design Engineer
to support the design and development of Data Center Chilled Water Systems cooling products and help to improve the existing products based on specific client's needs. Ensuring the compliance of quality, time and cost targets; implementing the best compromise between market requirements, production and industrialization links. Working specifically in the field of Mechanical CAD design to ensure all physical aspects of the product are designed and documented in line with the expectations of production, service and the customer. This position will support product production transfer from other locations, interface with main center of expertise, understand and manage bill of materials. Interface with other departments. Working with Product Management and ETO (Engineer to Order) teams as and when required in in order to satisfy business requirements (usually customer projects).
Responsibilities:
To be highly competent in MCAD design for the physical product features in Solid Edge or CREO. Undertaking the direct responsibility of the choice and sizing of the main (nonperforming) components for standard and special products preparing and distributing the documentation for their realization independently, to ensure the compliance with the scheduled production times.
Ensure accurate and reliable design information is shared to all internal and external customers
Strong involvement in the product prototyping and testing phase.
Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of the technical documentation coordinating in house and outsourced resources
Manage marketing requests and teamwork with multiple departments
Manage bill of materials (ERP and PLM)
Ability to understand refrigerant circuits and related standard applicable
Interface with the sales network, the suppliers and the productive departments.
Calculate the costs of the designed solutions in cooperation with project manager and/or ETO manager.
Improve, update, review the mechanical drawings according to the information from the production, purchase and logistics departments, so as to simplify the assembly, reduce the costs and improve the quality.
Support R&D or ETO work of other engineering teams in different regions as needed
Re-engineering of existing Thermal products for performance, legislative or cost improvement (VA/VE)
Coordinate and manage the mechanical new design or re-industrialization steps of the different units
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline
5+ years of engineering experience within a relevant product development environment.
Expert knowledge of MCAD tools for designing framework, sheet metal and pipework products normal in the HVAC market sector. Transferable expertise from other similar industries will be accepted.
Knowledge of technical norms, company procedures and grounding of basic detailed lists
Capacity of taking decisions as for solving problems.
Knowledge of the sheet metal working technologies, refrigerant circuits, and components.
Fluent speaking, reading, and writing in the English and Croatian languages
Technical Skills: 2D/3D CAD design
Process Skills: Demonstrates structural process capabilities with focus on continuous improvements
