To perform skilled painting work on interior and exterior of building, facilities, and equipment. To maintain plaster, concrete, drywall, and exterior systems as required.

Education & Experience
Four (4) years of related experience.Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: Valid driver's license required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Skill in selecting and applying paint and associated products. Skill in applying coatings and/or caulking and completing repairs to surfaces. Skill in wood surface preparation, staining, and/or sealing techniques. Verbal and written communication skills.Responsibilities
Applies paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to building interiors and exteriors and other surfaces using brushes, spray guns, rollers, and related painting equipment.Prepares and cleans surfaces. Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.Blends, mixes, and matches paints and stains by adding pigments and/or thinners to obtain desired color and consistency.Applies a variety of skills in erecting, rigging, and using scaffolding, ladders, trestles, planks, window jacks, and stages.Reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisor in order to determine work requirements; submits detailed reports describing scope of work performed, material expended, and amount of time spent to accomplish the job.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; complies with workplace safety and environmental practices.The duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Midwestern University facilities painter job description

The Campus Facilities Painter performs skilled painting work on interior and exterior elements of the beautiful Midwestern University campuses. This individual will report to the Manager of Maintenance and Engineering. The hours of this position will be Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 11:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Read and/or interpret blueprints, sketches, instructions or layouts to understand work to be done.

+ Performs skilled painting work in the preparation, patching, finishing, and maintaining of all building structures, walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment by inspecting the worksite to determine the materials, equipment, tools, and method to be used.

+ Prepares surfaces for painting using sandpaper, power sanders, steel wool, wire brushes, paint removers, filling nail holes, cracks, or joints with putty, plaster, or other fillers, applying paints, stains, varnishes, enamel, or lacquer using paint brushes, rollers, and/or sprayers.

+ Erects, repairs maintains and operates staging, rigging and scaffolding following accepted safety practices in order to gain access to areas needing paint.

+ Prepares surfaces for plaster or cement work by taping joints on sheetrock, caulking and waterproofing walls and cracks in floors, etc. by using appropriate tools and equipment.

+ Selects the types and color of paints, varnish or stain, and mixes, blends and prepares the same for proper color match.

+ Applies paints, varnishes, and/or stains to all types of surfaces (e.g. wood, metal, plaster, etc.) in order to protect and beautify such surfaces using appropriate utensils and equipment such as paint spraying machines.

+ Operates, cleans and maintains hand and power tools, air compressors and painting equipment as required.

+ Performs related duties such as preparing various reports; maintaining records and files; setting up signs and barricades; reading instructions on layouts; removing and placing glass; drilling holes in signs; printing letters and signs; laying out drop cloths; and moving office furniture.

+ Provides technical assistance in the purchase of new or replacement painting shop tools and equipment by being knowledgeable of the capabilities of various types of equipment and recommending the purchase of painting tools and equipment that meet the needs of the paint shop.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Expert knowledge of surface tolerance for plaster, drywall, wood, metal, plastic, for paint and special coatings

Experience working in a team and customer service oriented environment. Must be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as have the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Must have experience in coordinating projects; demonstrate ability to show flexibility; seek greater role in projects within administrative and other areas of competence; seek training on projects outside his/her range; take initiative on requests and inquiries of administrative nature.

This position will be responsible for painting the interior of the hospital. Will be required to operate paint brushes,
