Position Summary

The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) is seeking an experienced and well-rounded Facilities Project Manager to support capital and non-capital renovation projects. Reporting to the SEAS Director of Facilities and Space Planning, the Facilities Project Manager coordinates the renovation and alteration of SEAS spaces including wet/dry research and teaching laboratories, office space, classrooms and student spaces. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating with a diverse network including CU Facilities team members, internal SEAS clients, professional consultants and contractors. The candidate may also have other related duties as assigned. The incumbent will be part the school's facilities team that ensures the smooth operation of a multi-building portfolio. SEAS occupies space at the Morningside, Manhattanville and Medical Center campuses.

Responsibilities

(60%) Plans and executes SEAS renovation projects in collaboration with the Director and other SEAS Facilities staff. Coordinates with a complex team of professional consultants, numerous CU Facilities groups, and internal SEAS clients. Acts as project manager for non-capital projects and as owner's representative for capital projects. Ensures all work is delivered on time within budget and scope. Develops a thorough understanding of the buildings, their infrastructure and their users to provide facility-wide technical and project support. Oversees all aspects of the projects including budget, scope, design, relocations, construction, furniture selection and move-ins. Also manages laboratory alterations for new equipment installations (minor and major). Performs detailed design and construction reviews, continually providing input and direction. Act as part of the team to ensure the smooth operation of a multi-building portfolio.
(15%) Coordinates effective facilities-related services for SEAS, working with the Director on long-range planning and establishing priorities for facilities improvements. Responsible for client management, and project reporting including correspondence, budget, and scheduling.
(15%) Service Ticket Management: in partnership with CU Facilities, ensures the delivery of high quality services to clients while maximizing the efficient use of University resources. Manages service requests and responds to emergencies (e.g. fire, flooding, loss of building services) acting as SEAS liaison to the first responders and providing updates to the faculty and staff.
(10%) Performs related other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experienced required, with a preference for degrees in engineering, or a related discipline. Outstanding human relations and leadership skills are also required.Demonstrated project management skills in overseeing construction and renovation projects in a diverse higher education environment, medical environment or related laboratory preferred. At least4years of progressively responsible experience in one (or more) of the following is required: institutional project management; management of physical plant operations and maintenance; or higher education planning/design. Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in all phases of facilities support, including familiarity with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems preferred. Understanding of architectural and engineering drawings. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills to work effectively in a service environment that is subject to changing priorities. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and good judgement are a must. Demonstrated experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously, effective communication and problem solving. Ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Skilled in Microsoft Office products including Excel. Position involves moderate physical activity, including a significant amount of walking. A candidate with the ability to perform light drafting for interior renovation projects is desirable.

Job Description
Develop and manage the scope, budget, design and schedule of multiple plant rearrangement and production equipment installation projects, from cradle to grave.Responsibilities include project planning, design, bidding work to general contractors, building/executing and closing out the project. Projects can range from $5,000 to over $15 million. Design efforts include developing project requirements and preparing engineering plans and specifications.Project managers collect data, formulate design specifications, obtain management acceptance, and develop a completely engineered design package for contractor bidding. Many design aspects are completed in collaboration with other staff engineers, contract consultants, and other internal stakeholders. Evaluate, select, and coordinate activities of external consultants, contractors, and in-house specialties to develop and implement corporate facilities projects and program requirements. Manage financial budgets and track costs as they are incurred throughout the project lifecycle. Provide accurate and timely cost and schedule tracking to all project stakeholders. Prepare spending forecasts, establish budgets, approve invoices, and manage change orders. On occasion, conduct major facility studies covering such recurring subjects as five (5) year plans, total energy generation, facility containment/contingency programs, building management systems, major material and vendor studies, etc. Assure Company compliance with all federal, state and applicable local codes such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), etc. Provide an interface with external suppliers and contractors in order to assure acceptable, cost-effective and schedule minded construction programs. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
