Facilities specialist job description

The Medical Staff Services Facility Specialist is responsible and accountable for all functions relating to the approval process for credentialing and re-credentialing, clinical privileging of the medical staff, and delineating of services for the allied health professionals and others as appropriate. The Medical Staff Services Facility Specialist is also responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and clinical privileging database system. In addition, the Medical Staff Services Facility Specialist provides information and guidance regarding medical staff bylaws, medical staff ruled and regulations, allied health professionals (AHP) policies, Joint Commission for Accreditations of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory agencies as they pertain to medical staff and allied health professionals. This positions functions as a Medical Staff Coordinator within the Hospital, and leader of the Medical Staff Services team when the Manager/Director is not present.

The ideal candidate will be a Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or possess an education plan to obtain in twenty-four (24) months from date of hire and have a successful track record in healthcare credentialing/verification.

Position Purpose: Provide support with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of existing and new business location sites

• Support management with the RFP process, layout design and space needs, and recommend efficient and cost effective solutions

• Manage and oversee various projects, including preparing estimates and monitoring contractors to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner

• Coordinate with contractors and consultants on build outs, construction, and plan updates for multiple locations

• Handle facilities requests assigned, including checking web based work orders, answer calls and ordering necessary furniture and supplies

• Coordinate with onsite Office Service Managers (OSM) and building property managers to ensure proper handling of any building, maintenance, or cleaning issues

• Gather estimates, review, select and coordinate resolutions with OSM and Property management at location

• Report on building maintenance issues to property management and ensure proper standards are applied throughout the building

• Coordinate internal moves including ensuring the locations are clean and employees are provided necessary resources

Education/Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent experience. 2+ years of related facilities, property management or construction experience.
