This position will assist fisheries professionals, processors, wholesalers, and retail establishments to improve product quality, safety, nutritional aspects, and value; And serve as a key resource for national food safety/security efforts and regulatory requirements under the USDA's Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The successful candidate will work closely with VSAREC faculty and staff, faculty across ARECS, and campus faculty in CALS and other colleges at Virginia Tech. This position will support the University's Global Systems Science Destination area; the CALS Center for Advanced Innovation in Agriculture and Controlled Environmental Agriculture Innovation Centers; and create and support critical links between faculty and programs distributed across AREC's, CALS units, and the University.

The role of the Instructor, College and Career Readiness (CCR) is to manage and instruct the Adult High School (AHS) and High School Equivalent (HSE) students in the CCR program. The instructor will coordinate and implement program needs, exercising functional and technical supervision over students and volunteer instructional staff.
The Instructor, CCR receives supervision from the Director, College and Career Readiness.Program Administration and Documentation:
* Maintain and review all assessment testing and coursework data for all AHS and HSE students on Literacy Education Information System (LEIS forms.
* Monitor instructional hours and academic progress for all AHS and HSE students to determine optimum post-test opportunities for assessment testing.
* Maintain up-to-date compliance data on assessment pre-tests, post-tests and Educational Functional Levels (EFL) gains for all AHS and HSE students.
* Maintain student records, attendance records and folders for all AHS and HSE participants.
Academic Advisement/Guidance and Instruction:
* Provide basic skills and AHS and HSE instruction to adult students, evaluate needs; correct work and assign tasks.
* Create lesson plans for instruction of students in area being taught.
* Prepare, teach and evaluate assigned instructional courses (classroom/lab).
* Meet with new AHS and HSE students to discuss graduation requirements, testing-based placement and options for enrollment in the program. Work with students to establish clear academic goals.
* Maintain continuous contact with ongoing students to monitor progress toward academic goals.
* Make referrals as necessary to special programs and agencies that are available to aid student progress Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Human Resource Development (HRD) and Student Success and Enrollment Management (SSEM), etc.).
Recruitment and Retention:
* Regularly assess the involvement and progress of current students. Make contact with students who may have difficulty attending class, maintaining hours or making passing grades and meet with them or discuss by phone what measures need to be taken to correct any problems. Also, make contact with all students on a regular basis to offer them encouragement and remind them of program resources.
* Maintain an ongoing effort to contact non-current students who have been active in recent semesters but who are not current, encourage them to return to the program. Telephoning is a preferable contact method, than email or postal mail.
* Participate in orientation sessions by presenting information on the HSE program.
* Assist with all recruiting/retention efforts implemented by the department and College.
Direction and Implementation of Program Goals:
* Participate in regular North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) training sessions.
* Work with the Director to recommend additions, changes and deletions to keep program area current.
Interface with Department:
* Maintain rapport with other instructors to remain apprised of the academic progress of AHS and HSE students.
* Use student management software to enroll new students in the AHS and HSE, reactivate returning students and assign AHS and HSE classes.
* Create student user accounts for all AHS and HSE programs.
* Meet in person with new AHE and HSE users to orient them to the AHS and HSE program, review policies, log-in and user logistics, grading information and specifics about class.
* Be available for students during office hours to address problems that students have concerning specific assignments or problems that they have with the logistics of the AHS and/or HSE program.
* Maintain electronic files and hard copies of all time reports.
* Maintain regular entries of AHS and HSE instruction time on the attendance roster for each student.
* Enforce probationary and disciplinary measures for students who fail to adhere to AHS and HSE instructional policies (minimum time requirements, academic integrity, etc.). Diminish the need for such measures by regular contact with students, encourage them to keep their hours and address any obstacles.
* Teach evening classes, classes at other campuses and off-site locations based on instructional and/or staffing needs as required.
Required:
* Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major course work in education or a related field.
* Two years of increasingly responsible experience in education, including two years of administrative responsibility.
* Two years teaching experience.
Ability to:
* Prepare, documents and maintain records.
* Use modern office equipment including computers and software.
* Establish and maintain a cooperative and team-oriented working relationship with those contacted in the course of work and with other areas of the College.

Position Overview:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Modelling & Simulation (M&S) Operations: SME in the operation of Air Warfare Simulation (AWSIM), Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS), Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS), Joint Low Overhead Driver (JLOD) and Low Overhead Training System (LOTS) in stand-alone and federated Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) environments. Skilled and experienced in drafting and executing M&S test cases and plans for the purposes of supporting and directing M&S Integration Events (IE), Verification Events (VE), Operational Assessment Tests (OAT), Event Functional Tests (EFT), Event Operational Tests (EOT) and simulation database validations. Comprehensive understanding of simulation-to-stimulation (e.g., M&S-to-command and control (C2)) architectures. Skilled and experienced in using M&S to support accomplishment of training objectives in simulation supported, Master Scenario List (MSEL) driven, exercises.
M&S Instruction: SME in the preparation, delivery and refinement of M&S operations curriculum and instructor-led training, both in classroom environments and practical examination applications. Skilled in converting resident M&S training sessions into Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) training sessions. Maintain proficiency in joint and service doctrine and certification in specified M&S systems.
Response Cell Operations: SME in preparation and facilitation of Response Cell personnel and Response Cell activities in support of an Exercise Control Group (ECG). Skilled in providing instruction in Response Cell Operation and M&S Operations to military, government and contractor augmentees. Responsible for supporting training audience training objectives at exercise events by being knowledgeable in all areas of the exercise control group operations, to include the event scenario, the Master Scenario Event List (MSEL), the exercise Area of Responsibility (AOR) and role and responsibilities of component response cells. Serve as Cell Lead assisting in the development and validation of exercise scenario, Road-to-Crisis (RTC), MSEL, unit Order of Battle (OOB) and Table of Organization (TO&E) products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a U.S. citizen (eligible for a U.S. passport)
Must possess secret clearance (minimum) and meet eligibility requirements for a TS/SCI clearance
Must have a minimum of 8 years' experience as a rated commissioned officer or DoD civilian equivalent including experience in planning and conducting military training for a service or joint/combined organization
Must be knowledgeable of Air Force aviation organizations, operations and the role they play in Joint Operations
Must be capable of converting Operational level directives into Tactical level activity replicated in simulations
Must be able to travel unassisted to CONUS and oversees locations to perform job duties
Knowledgeable of Air Tasking Order (ATO) and Airspace Control Order (ACO) processes
Experience in Air Force exercise design, to include Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC), Universal Joint Task List (UJTL) and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) processes desired
