ROLE of the POSITION The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction (CEEC) of the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in the construction area, commencing Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous and sustainable funded research program in their area of expertise, mentor to graduate undergraduate and graduate students, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their expertise area related to construction engineering and management, and participate in service to the Department, College, University, and profession. PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT The CEEC Department has 17 full-time faculty members in 6 technical areas. Three of these faculty members have received the prestigious NSF CAREER award. Current enrollment of the department includes about 600 undergraduate and 80 graduate students. The department has fully equipped professional facilities with computing, electronic, fabricating, testing, printing, and word processing. High speed computing facilities are available at the National Supercomputing Center for Energy and the Environment hosted in the College of Engineering. UNLV GPU Cluster (named RebelX) is also available for A.I. research and education. Detailed information about the CEEC Department can be found at: ************************ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architectural engineering, construction engineering management, or other relevant engineering (e.g., computer engineering or science) and a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). If the applicant does not have undergraduate degree in engineering, then PhD in Civil Engineering with Construction emphasis is required. Applicants from all areas of construction will be considered. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas will receive special consideration: automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies in construction.
