POSITION SUMMARY: Provide instruction to students in the dental programs at Lakeshore College. The instructor in this role must have knowledge of and be able to demonstrate and perform a variety of dental services and dental procedures, manage infection and hazard control, produce diagnostic radiographs, perform basic laboratory procedures and demonstrate professional behaviors, ethics, and appearance. The instructor will deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings. The instructor will prioritize the needs of the local workforce and play a crucial role in placing learning at the forefront, offering innovative and authentic educational experiences for learners. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned): (100%) Instruction * Responsible for placing learning first and providing educational experiences for learners in various delivery formats, schedules, and in various places in accordance with the mission of the college inclusive of: facilitating learning of diverse students, assessing student performance, as well as instruction and outcomes, developing and maintaining current/relevant course materials, and communicating with the community, other schools, the college, the division, and team members. * Ensure the safety of students in potentially hazardous work environments by following OSHA protocol though safe working practices and proper use of equipment. * Develop and revise curriculum, including learning activities and assessments. * Complete remediation of student dental learners. * Contribute documentation from courses to the Commission on Dental Accreditation CODA. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene from a regionally accredited college or university is required. * Minimum of three years (6,000 hours) of recent, relevant work experience in the Dental field is required. At least one year (2,000 hours) must have been worked within the last five years. * Experience in dental hygiene training in the clinical and/or didactic environment. * Minimum of two years full time clinical experience as a practicing Registered Dental Hygienist. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION: * Current State of Wisconsin Dental Hygiene Licensure including local anesthesia, nitrous oxide and laser certification. * CPR Certification. * Certified dental assistant (CDA) or registered dental hygienist (RDH) preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE * Knowledge of Lakeshore's mission, vision, and strategic direction. SKILLS * Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Effective interpersonal skills and customer service skills. * Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
