1983: The television show, Hotel¸ began using exterior shots of The Fairmont Hotel for its establishing shots.
1984 | Fairmont Designs founded in CA, USA.
1985 | East coast distribution center opened in Memphis, TN.
1989 | Global trade office operates in Taipei, Taiwan.
1991 | Meizhou production base established.
1994 | Shanghai production base established.
The Swig family sold the hotel in 1994 to Maritz, Wolffe & Co. and Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talel who operated 94 hotels worldwide under the Raffles, Fairmont and Swissotel brands.
1998 | Dongguan production base established.
2001 | Hospitality furniture business started.
2002 | Bath Furniture Division established.
2004 | Taicang Production base established.
2006 | Bath division expands into Canadian market.
2006 | Project management team operates in Taipei.
2006: Colony Capital purchased Fairmont Hotels and Resorts for the sizable sum of $3.9 billion.
2007: The Fairmont Hotel joined Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing the nation’s finest historic destinations.
2008 | Upholstery production line established in the United States
The New York Times reported on April 3, 2009 that “… San Franciscans have rallied around the Tonga Room.
Since 2011, the firm has acquired commercial real estate properties valued over $8 billion including the 317-room Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, the 531-room Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, the 540-room Fairmont Orchid Hotel and the 282-room Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Pangyo.
2012: Global asset management firm, Oaktree Capital Management formed a partnership with Woodridge Capital Partners to purchase the location for a sum of $200 million.

2014 | Vietnam production base established.
Turkel was designated as the “2014 Historian of the Year by Historic Hotels of America,” the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
In 2015, Oaktree and Woodridge sold the Fairmont San Francisco for $450 million to affiliated companies of Mirae Asset Global Investments, a large financial services company based in Seoul, South Korea.
