Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the OR at St. John's Hospital located in Maplewood, MN. We're offering a $6,500 sign-on bonus and up to a $5,000 relocation bonus! The Cardiovascular Surgical Technician receives a $2.50/hour augmentation. Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening shift. This position will also work rotating weekends and holidays. As a Surgical Technologist, you'll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You'll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. Our Surg techs work as a part of a strong team and their cases include, but are not limited to, general, dental, ear, nose, and throat, endoscopy, vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, neurology, bariatrics, solid organ transplant, gynecologic, colo-rectal, urology, plastics, and Da Vinci robotics. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for: * Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. * Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. * Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. * Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. * Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. * Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. * Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. * Anticipating the surgeon's needs. * Following appropriate action in emergency situations. Required Qualifications: * Complete one of the following by hire date: * Military Surgical Assistant; OR * LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR * Surgical Technologist training * At least 1 year of Cardiovascular experience as a Surgical Technologist * Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date) Preferred Qualifications: * Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program * AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire * 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience Other Required Skills: * Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served. * Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions. Applies basic and current knowledge of surgical instruments for a proficient performance of assigned functions.
