The position includes seeing patients both in the outpatient office and hospital, with a Monday-Friday workday schedule with no call responsibility.
The ideal candidate will be a board certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with at least one year of experience in Internal Medicine and/or Gastroenterology. Physician assistants and nurse practitioners (NP PAs) in the division of Hospital Internal Medicine (HIM) work collaboratively with physicians and other NP PAs to provide high quality hospital-based care. The HIM team is responsible for caring for a variety of clinically diverse and complex patients in a high acuity, dynamic and collaborative hospital setting. Our patient population consists of all areas of internal medicine with a focus in Hematology/Oncology and Transplant Medicine. The HIM NP PA will partner with HIM physicians to assess, diagnose and treat patients and are responsible for patients in the Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care Units (PCU). The HIM NP PA completes admissions and consultations and is responsible for cross-cover of patients. The HIM NP PA will work 12-hour shifts that are NIGHTS ONLY and include weekends and holidays.
The HIM team is dedicated to Mayo Clinic's three shields: patient care, education and research and is seeking NP PAs interested in those areas, as well. The HIM NP PA will demonstrate leadership through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and research and actively seeks to improve the practice through performance improvement initiatives.
Mayo Clinic Hospital is growing to meet the needs of patients in Arizona, and in turn, the division of HIM is expanding, as well. We are seeking to add high quality NP PAs dedicated to patient care and teaching to our team.

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner ONLY: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as a ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.
