The Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist is responsible for crisis intervention, direct service and plays a crucial role in providing rapid response and support to individuals facing various crises, such as emotional distress, mental health crises, trauma, or situational emergencies. They are responsible for evaluating the situation, ensuring the safety of the individual, and offering immediate assistance and resources to help them regain emotional stability and well-being. The Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist is also responsible for clinical guidance for direct service staff, support staff training needs and maintain close working relationships the Clinical Director and Program Director. Crisis Intervention and Direct Service Responsibilities Counsel clients as needed when presenting with acute crisis and in danger of harm to self or others. Assist with Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) statements and CCOP consults as needed. Provide support to staff serving clients that are undergoing acute crises and help clients experiencing other distressing issues. Apply effective crisis intervention skills, suicide prevention and intervention strategies, and problem-solving techniques when responding to individuals in crisis or supporting direct service staff working with these clients. Work collaboratively with F&CS staff to engage clients in appropriate services Provide clinical leadership when needed in crisis situations. This could include case consultation or working directly with a client. Consult with other health professionals to ask for assistance for any recovery and intervention options as needed. Recommend any treatment adjustments and interventions through client interview and the case review process. Consult with F&CS Crisis Intervention team and agency Suicidologist for complex & difficult client situations. Clinical Guidance Assist staff by supervising complex cases and providing treatment recommendations, adjustments or interventions needed for clients. This could be completed in case consultation, client interview or case review process. Provide clinical guidance, training, and expertise for staff who are lacking crisis intervention experience. Facilitate team meetings as a backup to Clinical Supervisor, including huddles and high risk staffing. Provide feedback on ways to improve the delivery and types of clinical services offered to clients Provide supportive environment for employees by modeling and teaching work management, change management, communication skills, self-care and address personal barriers and strengths Advise on treatment for clients who may need more intensive or more specialized mental health care, supportive treatment options until clients can be engaged in outpatient care as appropriate. Attend Incident Review Committee to provide case presentation, discuss recommendations, and ensure recommendations are implemented throughout the Collaborate with Clinical Supervisors to ensure ongoing staff and client needs are Oversee and review clinical work procedures as needed working with Clinical Director and Program Director to implement changes or process improvements needed. Training Identify staff training needs to be addressed by the agency clinical training department and/or individual programs. Assist with supporting and training current or newly hired clinical supervisory staff. Develop monthly training schedule and deliver information in program meetings. Maintain a Close Working Relationship with Program Director Inform the Clinical Director and/or Program Director promptly of all relevant staff morale and employee satisfaction issues, political, financial, clinical, and liability issues and make recommendations for any changes in procedures, protocols and/or Recommend new processes and changes in protocols and procedures. Identify agenda items for staff meetings. Develop and Manage Self for Success Stay actively informed of emerging best practice and enhanced protocols for suicide and homicide prevention and intervention. Collaborate with clinical director and program director to implement changes and best practices used in program. Actively enhance knowledge of critical analysis in decision making. Understand and develop advanced evidence-based practice and specialty skills. Model essential behaviors for program staff. EDUCATION: Master's Degree in social sciences is required EXPERIENCE: Trained in mental health crisis intervention. Training in suicide prevention and intervention is preferred. Crisis intervention experience is preferred Mental health consultants must have excellent communication and listening skills to understand and assess the client's situation and evaluate the level of their emotional and psychological Fully licensed as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LBP

Job Overview As a Family Counselor, I provide short-term, intensive, in-home counseling to two families at a time, offering a minimum of five hours of weekly face-to-face support. I teach, coach, and model effective parenting skills to strengthen parent-child interactions while connecting families to essential services and resources. Additionally, I collaborate closely with DCP&P and community providers to ensure coordinated, family-centered care and lasting positive outcomes. Program Info Family Preservation Services (FPS) is an in-home program intended to assist the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) in meeting the State's obligation to preserve the sanctity of the family and prevent the placement of children outside the home by strengthening families through the application of intensive family preservation services. The FPS program is mandated to provide services to families whose children are at imminent risk of placement, or whose children are being prepared for reunification. The FPS program works to ensure the safety of all family members, prevent the out-of-home placement of children considered to be at imminent risk of removal from their home, improve family functioning, reduce the recurrence of maltreatment, help families utilize community resources more effectively, and assist families with the process of reunification where separation or removal has already occurred. Key Responsibilities: Provide short-term, intensive, in-home counseling to 2 families at a time, each receiving a minimum of 5 hours of weekly face-to-face contact. Teach, coach and model parenting skills and effective parent-child interactions and advocate and link families to concrete services and supports. Work collaboratively with DCP&P and community service providers Requirements: Bachelor's degree in counseling or a related field with 1.5 years professional experience and a valid driver's license and insured vehicle. SUMMARY Provides direct in-home services to families substantiated for child abuse and neglect, who have been referred by Children's Protective Services workers and Foster Care workers from the Department of Human Services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities associated with this job will change from time to time according to the Agency's needs or contract. More specifically, the incumbent may be required to perform additional and/or different responsibilities from those described below: * Provides intensive in-home services for 2 client families at a time, providing 4-6 weeks of service, averaging 10 hours of face-to-face service per family per week. * Writes Service Plans, Progress Reports, and a Termination Report for every 14 days of service provision. * Writes time sheets and case notes and complete other documentation on all cases. * Expends Specific Assistance monies by use of an agency credit card and checkbook. * Attends Families First of Michigan trainings and other agency trainings as required. * Provides 24/7 emergency availability for the 2 client families on this specialist's own caseload. * May occasionally works some non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends). * Transports clients as needed. * Teaches families parenting skills, coping skills, and skills for living. * Collaborates with DHS referring workers and foster care workers. * Functions as part of a Families First team in weekly meetings and other activities. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel * Must be able to transport clients in employee-provided vehicle; must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance and driving record in alignment with agency policies. * Positions may require prolonged sitting, standing and use of fingers.
