Hospital Details Vibra Hospital of SE Michigan - DMC Campus, located in Detroit, MI is a 28 bed Critical Care Hospital providing acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Often our patients require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation and ventilator weaning. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we offer an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and friendly work environment where you really get to know your patients and their families Responsibilities Responsible for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. Assigned to work under the supervision of a RN/LPN/LVN who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and PCT/PCA skills and abilities. Will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse. Utilizes basic infection control procedures, basic nutrition and fluid intake. Recognizes emergency situations and responds. Required Skills: * High School Graduate or equivalent required. * Completion of an approved nursing assistant or PCT program or successful completion of the Hospital's PCT training and orientation program * Current BLS certification from a Vibra-approved vendor required. Additional Qualifications/Skills: * Current, valid, and active certification to practice as a Patient Care Technician/Associate in the state of employment preferred. * Ability to project a professional image. * Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills. * Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. * Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions. * Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. * Phlebotomy training and ECG training preferred. * Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Attends lectures and/or seminars to keep informed of any new data in Mammography, and be able to relate new findings to patients. • Performs duties of a radiography and ancillary functions as directed. Participates in quality assurance/quality control activities as needed. Coordinates and communicates activities with all areas of Radiology. • Does QA testing of x-ray machines and processors. Compiles data and keeps records of daily testing, etc. • Must have knowledge of set up and procedures used for Steriotactic Needle Localization. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the nephrology healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Sets up, tests, and operates hemodialysis machines for patient treatments. Obtains and documents necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient. Evaluates vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation. Evaluates intradialytic problems and provides intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed. Monitors patients' response to dialysis therapy. Evaluates patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures. Reports any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor. Enters all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner. Collects, labels, appropriately prepares, and stores lab samples according to required laboratory specifications. Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
