Position Summary & Highlights

What You Will Do:
* You will primarily support two very busy family practice providers and will also support family medicine providers and a team of other MAs and RNs when needed.
* You will also be administering immunizations, assisting with minor procedures such as circumcisions, and also complete tasks and orders in the task inbox.
* An ideal candidate has previous MA experience, is very detailed oriented, has excellent patient flow and pace skills, prior or current EPIC experience, and confident communication skills with providers and other staff.
* You are outgoing, easy going, enjoys problem solving, and are a strong team player.
* You want to be a part of a team that is positive, trustworthy, and respectful, and has a passion for providing the best patient care.
Work Schedule:
* 36 hours/week - 4 - 9 hour days, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (Wednesdays off).

* Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

PSYCHIATRIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide onsite psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of those inmates referred by the medical and clinical services staff.
Provide written summaries of history, diagnosis and treatment course.
Where applicable, provide psychiatric services for inpatients, assessment, diagnosis, staffing, treatment planning, and regular review of all inmates assigned.
Where applicable, provide psychiatric services for all inmates referred to the Healthcare Unit for those inmates in the general population who need regular psychiatric/behavioral health follow up.
Where applicable, provide psychiatric services for those inmates who need to be transferred to Behavioral Health facilities. Services to include work up and any court hearing testimony needed.
Where applicable, act as regular Psychiatrist and participate in the treatment programming and planning for the
Behavioral Health Unit (if applicable) duties include regular staffing and contact with Behavioral Health Unit staff and supervisor, discussion of problem cases, follow up and monitoring of medication, and general psychiatric input.
Provide medication management to all inmates admitted.
Provide individual and/or group therapy as appropriate.
Approve, sign, and monitor the implementation and efficiency of treatment plans.
Approve all admissions and discharges into the Behavioral Health Unit, if applicable.
Provide in-service education to the site staff as needed.
Attend training and meetings as required.

Must be a graduate of medical school and have completed an appropriate psychiatric residency.

Workplace Safety and Environment:
Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) working in VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), will adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and PPE protocols to ensure a safe environment. Physicians must follow HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and VA workplace safety policies, including radiation safety, ergonomic best practices, and emergency response procedures.
Physicians will manage high patient volumes, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide care to aging veterans, combat-injured patients, and those with PTSD or mental health challenges. Workplace violence prevention training and security measures are in place for safety. All incidents, exposures, or patient safety concerns must be reported per VA compliance and occupational health requirements.

Qualifications:
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
Active and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a practicing physician in a primary care setting preferred.
Familiarity with VA policies, procedures, and electronic health records (EHR/CPRS) is a plus.
Ability to pass a background check and credentialing process required by the VA.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette and precise documentation.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced level), online calendars, and cloud-based systems.
Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills.

What You Will Do:
* You will primarily support a family practice provider and will also support family medicine providers and a team of other MAs and RNs when needed.
* In addition to typical MA duties, you will administer immunizations, assisting with minor procedures such as circumcisions,
* Complete tasks and orders in the task inbox, and also have the opportunity to be crossed trained in Urgent Care to help cover or float to these clinics.

Work Schedule:
* 28 hours per week, 3 - 9.5 hour days, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
* 6:45am - 4:30pm. This will be the primary work schedule, but is subject to change based on provider's schedule and clinic staffing needs.

MA Minimum Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
* MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
* American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
* American Medical Technologists (RMA)
* National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
* National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
* National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
* American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
* National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
* New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
* Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
