Recent experience with procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage (I&D), or other types of procedures is required, and procedural case logs will be requested as part of the credentialing process. Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy training are available. A full clinical team will be in place from the start date. Our client is looking for a Critical Care / Pulmonology Physician for a 2-3 week placement to cover a provider going on vacation. Approx hours : Mon -Thurs 1p-11p, Fri - Sun 5p-7a with approx 66 hours of work one week, one week off, then another 66 hour work week. Qualifications are BE or BC, hold an active state license (any state will suffice), current DEA, and updated BLS/ACLS. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Serve as the attending for inpatient and outpatient services on a 24-hour basis, perform evaluations involving complete history and physical examinations and the ordering of laboratory studies relevant to the patient's medical problem, and supervise housestaff and midlevel providers and assist with their evaluation and management of patients. Perform specialty specific procedures including but not limited to: Arterial/venous blood sampling, thoracentesis, arterial and venous catheter placement, placement of central venous lines/acute dialysis catheters/PA catheters, intubation, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, lumbar puncture, joint aspiration, placement of NG/feeding tubes, aspiration of subcutaneous fluid collections, bladder catheterizations, and performing portable ultrasound. Services will be rendered in the following patient care areas: Medical Intensive Care Unit, and Coronary Care Unit. Consultative services will be provided in other inpatient and outpatient areas throughout the facility including Emergency Department, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, General Medicine and Surgical Units, and outpatient Pulmonary Clinics. Contract Physicians shall be 1) Board Certified or 2) Board Eligible and less than four (4) years out of Residency, 3) and have current certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. May operate with a license in any state, territory or commonwealth in the United States. The provider shall hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree from an accredited college or university approved by the Department of Education. The contract physician will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to patients in the Primary Care setting. The contract physician is required to make physician-to-physician contact calls with private and client physicians regarding referral of patients and to make telephone arrangements with appropriate physicians at tertiary care medical centers to arrange for referral of patients to other medical centers. The contract physician will be required to enter all notes, request diagnostic tests, consultative requests, order medications and resulting reports into the computerized patient record system (CPRS) on the day of the visit. In the event of computer system failure, the physician must maintain sufficient written or typed information to allow for entry in CPRS at a later time. Documentation is expected to meet medical center policies/Clinical Practice Guideline and Joint Commission/HCFA standards for documentation and subsequent coding. The physician needs a strong working knowledge of computers/skills to access the computerized patient record system (CPRS) utilized by the client. CPRS orientation will be provided to the new provider, but this training cannot compensate for limited exposure to computers and poor data entry skills.

Physicians will deliver a full range of inpatient and outpatient pulmonary and critical care services, meeting or exceeding the standards established by the American College of Chest Physicians and other nationally recognized guidelines. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires participation in clinic, operating suite, intensive care units, and on-call rotations. Work Schedule Clinic Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (minimum two physicians on-site daily). Operating Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (physicians must report at least 20 minutes before shift start). On-Call Coverage: Weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays on rotation. Must be available by phone within 15 minutes and on-site within 30 minutes when called. Off-hours responsibilities include patient evaluation, documentation, and critical care support. Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities Provide comprehensive pulmonary and critical care services equivalent to those in modern civilian medical facilities. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic pulmonary disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Collaborate with residents, fellows, and other staff physicians in patient care and training. Maintain compliance with VA policies, procedures, and mandatory training requirements Diagnostic Bronchoscopy & Airway Procedures Perform diagnostic bronchoscopies, including washings, brushings, lavage, biopsies (forceps, needle, or additional sites), and advanced methods such as navigational bronchoscopy. Conduct therapeutic bronchoscopic interventions such as dilation, stent placement or revision, tumor excision, balloon occlusion, removal of foreign bodies, clearance of secretions, and endobronchial valve placement/removal. Apply advanced procedures including bronchial thermoplasty for one or multiple lobes. Pulmonary Function & Respiratory Testing Administer and interpret spirometry, including patient-recorded and pediatric applications. Perform lung volume measurements, vital capacity tests, flow-volume loops, and oscillometry. Conduct advanced pulmonary function testing such as plethysmography, gas diffusion studies (CO/diffusing capacity), pulmonary compliance studies, and exhaled gas analysis (O₂, CO₂, or combined). Assess respiratory response curves (CO₂ and hypoxia) and exercise-related pulmonary stress testing (simple and complex). Oversee expired gas collection and analysis, as well as airway pressure/ventilation techniques (CPAP, CNP). Respiratory Therapy & Inhalation Treatments Administer airway inhalation therapies, including aerosol treatments, surfactant administration, and oxygen titration protocols. Guide and evaluate patient use of inhalers and adherence to prescribed therapies. Provide chest wall manipulation therapy and deliver continuous breathing treatments (CBT). Blood Gas, Oxygen, and Exhaled Gas Monitoring Measure and interpret blood oxygen levels at rest, during exercise, and under specific challenges. Conduct exhaled nitric oxide testing and exhaled carbon dioxide analysis for diagnostic purposes. Perform hypoxia altitude simulation testing (HAST) with detailed reporting. Sleep Medicine & Polysomnography Perform and interpret sleep studies (attended and unattended) for pediatric and adult populations, including actigraphy, multiple sleep latency testing, and polysomnography with or without CPAP/BiPAP. Manage pediatric apnea monitoring, including home recording, data download, reporting, and car seat/bed tolerance testing. Ventilation & Critical Care Management Provide ventilator management for hospitalized patients (initial and subsequent days). Deliver critical care services, including initial stabilization and ongoing management of complex respiratory patients. Physicians will deliver a full range of inpatient and outpatient pulmonary and critical care services, meeting or exceeding the standards established by the American College of Chest Physicians and other nationally recognized guidelines. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires participation in clinic, operating suite, intensive care units, and on-call rotations. Work Schedule Clinic Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (minimum two physicians on-site daily). Operating Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (physicians must report at least 20 minutes before shift start). On-Call Coverage: Weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays on rotation. Must be available by phone within 15 minutes and on-site within 30 minutes when called. Off-hours responsibilities include patient evaluation, documentation, and critical care support. Pulmonary Function & Respiratory Testing Administer and interpret spirometry, including patient-recorded and pediatric applications. Conduct advanced pulmonary function testing such as plethysmography, gas diffusion studies (CO/diffusing capacity), pulmonary compliance studies, and exhaled gas analysis (O₂, CO₂, or combined). Oversee expired gas collection and analysis, as well as airway pressure/ventilation techniques (CPAP, CNP). Respiratory Therapy & Inhalation Treatments Administer airway inhalation therapies, including aerosol treatments, surfactant administration, and oxygen titration protocols.
