Responsibilities: Clinical: Provides consultation services for patients with neurologic conditions who are hospitalized at a Legacy hospital or are referred by their primary physician for outpatient consultation. Consultation services include an active role on the Stroke team providing acute stroke therapies. Responds promptly in writing to referral source with clinical findings and suggested plan of care. Provides telephone and telemedicine consultative services for patients with neurologic conditions throughout the region. Provides continuous coverage for the Neurology services together with the other neurology specialists on the Legacy Hospitals' Medical Staffs. Participates in EEG evaluations with other neurologists on the medical staff. Development of consultative and follow-up outpatient clinics, as requested. Administrative Collaborates with colleagues and other staff to develop policies and procedures for neurological care across the entire organization of Legacy Health. Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement in neurologic care of Hospital inpatients. Advises the Legacy Supply and Equipment Council on new technology that pertains to neurologic care. Advises the Legacy Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on neurologic medications including formulary recommendations, restrictions, utilization, and monitoring of adverse reactions. Participates regularly in the teaching activities of the Inpatient Medicine Department and Stroke Program, including resident, student and staff education and outreach continuing medical education. Participates in development of a consultative stroke clinic or other clinical program development as requested. Participates in marketing/outreach for neurology and telemedicine programs as requested. Inpatient Duties: Serves as Attending Physician on patients assigned to the neurology service and as teaching attending on patients on the housestaff service, as requested by Medical Director, Inpatient Medicine. Provides inpatient consultative neurology service as requested by attending physicians. Assists private practice physicians in using hospital services in an efficient and cost-effective manner with their hospitalized patients. Participates in education, training, and evaluation of house staff, medical students, and hospital personnel who have direct patient care responsibilities on the inpatient departments. Serves on department, hospital and Legacy Health committees as requested. Performs clinical responsibilities at assigned Legacy hospitals. Qualifications: Education: Graduate of a four-year accredited U.S. Medical School or the equivalent. Satisfactory completion of an accredited residency in Neurology. Experience: Clinical experience in vascular neurology required. Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff Experience with or interest in telemedicine desirable.
