DUTIES:
Assuring delivery of quality care services to all patients in a respectful and professional manner
Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives
Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections
Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance

MDS PC is experienced in providing medical services in an SNF setting with an understanding of how to give effective medical care in an SNF as well as an understanding of the survey process. We are currently providing services in facilities with specialty units and provide appropriate medical personal with the experience in treating residents on a vent. It is standard for our providers to reach out to the surrounding hospitals to ensure that we have good communications in terms of the continuation of care. We put a major focus on reducing the number of medications as well as the requirements with narcotics and psych meds. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Performs procedures in the clinic under direct or indirect supervision. Works directly with staff, administration, patients and families to ensure quality care across the continuum as an expert in surgical practice areas. Performs on-call coverage requiring high-level decision making on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends inclusive of surgery, hospital rounding, consults, and ED visits.
Qualifications
Education required: Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing Degree or current Physician Assistant license required
License, registration and/or certification:Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP or current registration through the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners for PA. Approval of the Huntsville Hospital Credentialing Board. BLS certification required within orientation period.
Experience: Minimum one (1) year of work experience as a licensed NP/PA. Inpatient, acute care neurosurgical or surgical experience preferred. Surgical experience strongly preferred for Surgical NP/PA.
Additional skills/abilities: Must have proven ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to interact with patients and their families in a manner that instills confidence and facilitates communication. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide exemplary customer service to patients, visitors and coworkers
• Provide convenient, friendly patient care to all who come through our door seeking health related services
• Provide leadership, direction, and assistance during emergencies while maintaining a comforting and reassuring affect for patients
• Working environment subject to varying fast paced and high stress conditions, including long and variable hours, changing locations, and continuous and frequent contact with others
• Performs medical assessment, treatment, management and follow up of clinic patients including, but not limited to: primary care, urgent care, occupational health, DOT physicals and workers compensation

• Establishes and monitors a medically appropriate level of care for clinic patients

• Cooperates and participates in the development, implementation and revision of policies affecting medical practice, quality of care and patient satisfaction

• Recommends potential means of growth and development for new and/or existing services within the Center
• Assures compliance with licensing, certification and accrediting bodies
• Participates in development and presentation of education programs for staff
• Represents Company and the clinic as reasonably required at internal and external meetings or events
• Provides guidance to other medical staff (e.g. physician assistants, nurse practitioners and medical assistants) to ensure quality professional services and patient satisfaction
WHAT'S REQUIRED?
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is preferred
• Active state license as an APRN or PA
• Current Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) Board Certification
• Current DEA license, or eligibility to obtain upon hire
• Current DOT certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Current BLS certification

Our full-time team members work a rotating 30-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Our PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
