About the Role
Assignment: Provide direct Nephrology care to U.S. Veterans-outpatient care, on-call coverage, and bedside consults.
Schedule: Outpatient clinic is Thursdays, 1:00pm-5:00pm (½ day per week). Additional on-call coverage required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, per published call schedule.
Location: Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, 5500 E. Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67218 (Clinic: Building 26, Room 168).

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluation and management of acute/chronic kidney disease, end-stage kidney disease, hypertension, fluid/electrolyte disorders, kidney transplantation, and more.
Supervise, prescribe, and provide oversight for kidney replacement therapies (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, etc.).
Perform or oversee procedures such as central line placement or kidney biopsy if privileged.
Provide consults at the bedside or in the clinic; ensure timely communication of test results.
Participate in call coverage and be available for phone consults 24/7 as scheduled (response within 15 min by phone, on-site within 60 min).
Meet all documentation, privacy, safety, infection control, and mandatory VA/VHA training requirements.
Work collaboratively with VA staff and leadership; respond promptly to feedback or patient care incidents.
Candidate Requirements
Education/Licensure: MD or DO with full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C. (no history of surrender, restriction, or revocation).
Board Credentials: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology (American Board of Internal Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine).
Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
Experience: Technically proficient in Nephrology, including the critical care/acute patient population. Recent grads (within 4 years) encouraged to apply.
Credentialing: Must meet all credentialing/privileging requirements of the VA and complete mandatory pre-employment screenings and trainings.
Other Requirements: Up-to-date CMEs, annual patient safety/infection control training, flu and other vaccinations (see immunization list), and negative TB screening.
Background/Compliance: Must pass VA background/security checks and not appear on OIG exclusion lists.

PediatricsPosition Title:Pediatric NephrologistJob Family Group: Academic Summary:The Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita is seeking a candidate for a full-time faculty position in Pediatric Nephrology. Candidates will have earned a D.O., M.D., or equivalent and be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Nephrology. The position offers an exciting opportunity to bring nephrology expertise to the state of Kansas and join over 25 other board-certified medical and surgical pediatric specialties collaborating to care for the children of our state. Ambulatory clinic and inpatient consultation will occur primarily with our tertiary care clinical partner, Wesley Children's Hospital, but the position will support pediatric patients hospitalized in our community. A successful candidate must have an interest in practicing academic medicine, supporting our graduate medical education programs in Pediatrics, and combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, as well as our medical school campus which supports over 200 medical students. The successful candidate will be the first pediatric nephrologist in our department, having the unique opportunity to fill a critical need for the children of our state and impact underserved and rural populations. While the service matures, support for nephrology service call will be provided in collaboration with regional partners.
The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita (KUSM-W) Department of Pediatrics is a robust, diverse, and thriving group of dedicated academic clinicians collaborating to deliver pediatric clinical care, education, scholarship and advocacy to the children and families in the Western two-thirds of the state. We are part of one of three University of Kansas medical school campuses. The Wichita campus serves over 200 medical students and boasts modern academic capabilities including a hi-fidelity simulation center and resources to support clinical and translational research and systematic quality improvement/implementation science. Wesley Children's Hospital (WCH), a tertiary care pediatric hospital within the main Wesley campus, is the result of a $70 million investment by Health Corporation of American and Wesley Healthcare and offers the only tertiary care children's services in Central and Western Kansas. WCH has the largest delivery service in Kansas, and includes 76 NICU beds, 35 general inpatient beds, 15 PICU beds, and centralized pediatric sedation. The NICU and PICU are staffed 24/7 in-house by board-certified specialists and pediatric hospital medicine will be in-house 24/7 in the coming academic year. WCH is a level 1 trauma center with a 24/7 pediatric surgery/trauma service. Other available and collaborating pediatric specialties include anesthesia, urology, infectious disease, radiology, endocrinology, cardiology, pulmonology, genetics, and the only comprehensive pediatric oncology program in the state. Patient Care - 90%
Provide direct patient care for outpatient infants, children, and adolescents.
Provide consultation on inpatient infants, children, and adolescents in collaboration with our hospitalist and critical care teams.
Work in conjunction with various pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, to provide effective and integrated care.
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety activities to improve efficiency, safety, and clinical outcomes for patients.
Maintain board certification in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology.
Seek opportunities for collaboration with our community and hospital partners.
Teaching and other Scholarly Activities - 10%
Educate, supervise, and participate in the evaluation process of residents, medical students, and other allied health trainees.
Assist with the development of a nephrology residency curriculum.
Participate in scholarly activities to the extent that ACGME criteria for “core faculty” are met; these include traditional scholarly products (i.e. publications, poster presentations) as well as invited presentations (i.e. grand rounds, professional or academic society conferences) and significant educations leadership roles (i.e. curriculum development).

POSITION OVERVIEW: Assumes responsibility for the psychiatric care and treatment of clients in the MHA Counseling Center. Evaluates medical and psychosocial conditions. Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribed psychotropic medication and evaluating treatment referrals. Supervises medical staff. Develops and monitors an department's strategic plan. Identifies health trends and introduces new treatments.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other people; conducts examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders, establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
Ensures medical staff uphold Regulations related to serving Medicare and Medicaid patients

Directs, supervises, and consults with professional staff in the implementation of treatment plans and care of clients under his/her care.

As the first outpatient neurologist in the Wasatch Back (Park City and the Heber Valley) you will work to establish a practice and bring general neurology care to the two neighboring communities.
You will have on-campus access to specialists in cardiology, pain management, orthopedic surgery (covering all subspecialties), PM&R, neurology rehabilitation, ENT, audiology, sleep, gastroenterology, endocrinology, concierge primary care, and psychiatry. You will also be part of the Intermountain Canyons Region Neurosciences Service Line, including in-person and tele-neurohospitalists, neuro critical care physicians, outpatient neurologists, neuro and spine PM&R physicians, neuro-psychologists and psychiatrists.
In this position you can anticipate:
* Practicing at Park City Clinic in Park City, Utah and Heber Valley Specialty Clinic in Heber City, Utah
* Four-days per week in clinic (split between the two locations; day off to be determined) and dedicated admin time
