Our Place has openings to join our weekend team. We are currently seeking compassionate, reliable and fun casual part time Mental Health Techs. A Mental Health Tech's primary duty is to provide emotional support and encourage residents to participate in activities, pass medications, ensure Individual Service Plans are followed and respect and support clients and team members. Duties also include some facility cleaning and food prep as well as being available for residents as needed. Shifts are 12:30pm to 8:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, every other weekend.
Qualified candidates will have a High school diploma or GED. Previous experience working with the chronically mentally ill and completed CBRF training is preferred for this position but not required. A valid Wisconsin Driver's License with acceptable driving record is required.

Summary :
Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Greets patients upon admission to the Behavioral Health unit, provides unit orientation and sets behavioral expectations during the patient stay on the union. Assists in implementing delegated treatment plan interventions. Observes, encourages and records the patient involvement in activities of daily living, individualized gains towards prescribed interventions and psychosocial interactions. The Behavioral Health Technician is highly vigilant in supervising and minimizing risks of all patients. Continuously serving as a professional role model and understands the programs, values and structure in support of the recovery goals. Due to the high visibility and significant patient interaction, this position is frequently the first responder to a variety of patient situations i.e. codes, behavioral outburst, attempts to introduce contraband and medical issues. The Behavioral Health Technician establishes rapport and trust with patients and adjusts therapeutic approach to acuity, age, gender and cultural considerations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Assist RN in maintaining and managing a safe and therapeutic environment for the patients.
* Maintains line of sight supervision of assigned patients at all times. Constantly walks the unit observing each patient in the common areas as well as his/her room.
* Provides care to patients in a manner that ensures patients' safety, protection of patient's rights, maximal patient comfort, and the optimal therapeutic environment.
* Observes patient behavior and notifies unit nurse, therapist and other appropriate staff of pertinent information for action and documentation in the progress notes.
* Serves as a role model for patients by consistently displaying positive and appropriate attitude, behavior, language, attire and appearance, etc.
* Defuses and reports crisis situations, intervening when appropriate and uses proper procedures.
* Assists with physical interventions with patients in response to required codes while under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager.
* Documents patients' behaviors and activities according to established policies and guidelines.
* Orients patient and family/significant others to the unit and hospital.
* Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment by assisting with groups, setting limits on patients; following established safety and risk management policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Candidate will possess an accredited high school diploma or have successfully passed the High School Equivalence Examination OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference is given to those with a degree or considerable coursework in the behavioral sciences or closely related field, and/or professional work experience in a behavioral healthcare hospital or residential treatment center.
* American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
* Category 1: Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
* Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
* Occasional high noise level in work environment.
* Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
* Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.

This 19 bed unit serves a great purpose in the community treating various health needs. Our compassionate team is comprised of Psychiatric hospitalists, RN's, CNA's, Occupational Therapists, mental health therapists, utilization specialists, and administrative professionals. This environment allows for collaboration and learning on a daily basis. Our team is dedicated to the highest quality of care and fosters great learning opportunities.
SCHEDULE:
