Assists local authorities with admission to SSLCs. Performs technical assistance and training to SSLC staff for transfers between SSLCs. Provides support and coordination for ongoing court processes. Provides support, technical assistance and training to assist families and IDT members regarding end-of-life issues. Collaborates with IDT and guardians to ensure guardianship paperwork is renewed timely. Performs administrative work in support of these tasks. Encourages interest in, and awareness of, the SSLC program and activities. Assists in organizing and marketing special events such as holiday events, family meals and family association meetings. As assigned, sends special notification to impacted parties for weather-related events, construction/issues impacting the SSLC, infection control practices, etc. Assists in the coordination of provider fairs. Provides tours of the facility for individuals and families interested in admission, local mental health authority staff, community providers or other interested parties. Prepares materials about the SSLC and performs speaking engagements in the community, as assigned. Conducts surveys and/or reviews to ensure that residents, legally authorized representatives, and actively involved persons receive the services required in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations and state and center policies such as for guardianship issues, annual living options discussions, end-of-life planning and rights. Job Purpose Perform designed alcohol and drug education, information, intervention, assessment, referral, group, and individual counseling services in a TDCJ Transitional Treatment Center residential facility setting. Job Description Maintain a full caseload and perform the following services: facilitate alcohol and drug education groups, information, intervention, assessment, referral, group, and individual counseling services. Conduct curriculum-based treatment and educational programs. Responsible for the collection and entry of client/program data as required. Complete all documentation and reports in a timely manner for submission to supervisor and to funding agency. Meet with professional and other community entities to enhance referral sources and ensure continuity of care for clients. Attend required on/off site training. Attend and participate in all required staff meetings. Work closely with Probation/Parole Officers to facilitate client care and completion of requirements. Prefer graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in education, social work, behavioral science, or related field, or graduation from an accredited senior high school with two (2) years work experience in substance abuse counseling. Extensive knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse and its psychological and social effects. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities In-depth knowledge of community resources, assessments, interventions, and referrals sources. Must have the ability to address health concerns and risks associated with substance abusing behaviors with the target populations. Must be knowledge regarding alcohol and drug abuse and its physiological, psychological and social effects. Experience with clients in a treatment setting is desirable. Skill in facilitating group counseling and individual sessions. Must have good case management skills and after care follow-up techniques. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and relate well to individuals and groups. Ability to establish rapport with clients, their children, and family members. Ability to represent BVCASA with a positive image. Must have a high standard of professional ethics and integrity with all clients, within the community and with BVCASA personnel. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, organizations, and general public. Must have good working knowledge of computers and ability to demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and online email and databases. Ability to enforce policies and procedures of BVCASA. Must have and maintain a general level of good health; physical, mental and emotional. Willingness to receive and to respond positively to supervision.
