Qualifications
Typically requires an AA Degree in social services, family development, mental health, or similar field.
Must possess or obtain credential/certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field within 18 months of tenure, unless grandfathered under Federal regulations
Must possess and maintain current pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate as well as a food handler's certificate.
3-5 years' experience working with diverse families of very young children;, or combination of training, education, and experience to perform the job successfully.
Must complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training as well as Pesticide Safety Training (per Healthy Schools Act) prior to beginning work.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Excel)

As a PRN Residential SUD Counselor, you will provide support to our full-time counseling team and assist with group counseling, documentation, resident interactions, data entry, and other day-to-day program needs. This is a non-caseload position, designed to help maintain continuity of services during staff absences, high census periods, and agency needs.
Essential Functions
Support the facilitation of SUD groups and programming during daytime shifts
Document group activities, progress notes, and other required logs according to program and funding guidelines
Assist with administering daily Med Calls
Conduct and document resident drug screens
Complete tasks assigned by the Lead Counselor or Program Manager
Help resolve interpersonal issues between residents when appropriate
Support residents in following residential rules and routines
Attend required trainings and meetings when scheduled
Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR, and agency policies
Maintain a trauma-informed and culturally competent approach when working with residents
Support transportation of clients to off-site meetings and/or events

Minimum Qualifications
Registered or Certified SUD counselor in the state of California

JOB SUMMARY:
The Child Life Specialist - Resident Dog Handler is a member of the healthcare team who focuses on the emotional and developmental needs of children and families to reduce stress and anxiety associated with a healthcare experience through play, education, preparation, and other therapeutic interventions, enabling children and families to cope more effectively and encouraging optimum development of children facing challenging experiences. The resident dog serves as the primary source of intervention with patients and families. The handler is responsible for the care of the resident dog 24/7. The hospital will cover the expenses for the dog (food, vet, grooming, toys/treats, costumes/outfits, etc.).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree

BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association)
CA Driver's License
Proof of Auto Insurance
Certified Child Life Specialist or eligible to meet certification requirements within 1 year of employment
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Life, Child Development, psychology, or related field with an emphasis in Child Life (meeting the 10-coursework requirement set forth by the ACLP)
- Completion of a 600-hour pediatric Child Life internship in accordance with the guidelines established by the Association of Child Life Professionals

. North County Serenity House (NCSH), a residential program of HealthRIGHT 360, was founded in 1966 to provide substance use disorder services in the community. NCSH provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
The SUD Counselor III is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through assessment of their needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery. SUD Counselor III will perform counseling in individual and group setting, deliver curricula in accordance with program specific requirements and case management, and assist clients in navigating systems of care while providing a supportive treatment environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Treatment Setting:
Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 25 clients, depending on the program staffing pattern and business needs, and provide individualized weekly counseling.
Facilitate group counseling sessions and community meetings.
Proactively link clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs.
Teach classes on treatment-related topics to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals.
Collaborates with each caseload client and other available internal and external resources to develop/maintain treatment plans, transition plans, progress notes and appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of the client.

* Assist in the distribution of food, food boxes, packing of food boxes, and storing and maintaining food spaces when not driving. When client choice pantry is up and running assist clients with receiving food.
* Must keep a detailed log of donations and maintain computer data entry including but not limited to monthly reports to the Salvation Army and to feeding San Diego, vehicle mileage, entering mobile service client data into WellSky and Corps management or other programs as directed and as needed.
* Help maintain vehicle including but not limited to car wash, oil changes, keeping vehicles fueled, keeping them clean and free of damage. Reporting all incidents immediately.
* Maintain good public relations, function in harmony with the Salvation Army guidelines.
* Answering the telephone, making phone calls, answering the door when available to do so, and interacting with clients needing services, when available and not driving.
* Attend all in-service workshops and staff meetings.
* Maintain professional attitude; demonstrate professional approach to problem solving.
* Meet certification by and participate in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program. The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy dictates that an employee may not obtain more than two (2) moving violations or accidents within any 12 month: See The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend squat climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 50lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax, and telephone.
Minimum Qualifications
* Minimum high school graduate of equivalent preferred.
* Must have and maintain a valid Class C California driver's license
* Must be able to read, write and communicate well in English.
* Basic computer knowledge and typing skills including word, publisher, and excel.
* Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.
* Minimum five years driving experience (non-professional)
* Must work well and relate well with people.
* Must meet all criminal/fingerprint clearance regulations.
