Job Description
Duties and responsibilities include:
Provides advocacy for a designated caseload of victims; researches and recommends resources and options to address individual needs; makes referrals to community-based programs and resources; ensures services provided are consistent and appropriate with needs; provides emotional support and encouragement to victims and witnesses, including during court proceedings; assists with navigation of the Criminal Justice System and referrals; provides timely information and responses to victim.
Collects victim information and provides required notifications; processes initial information packet and on-going notifications of court hearings as required by statute; supplies information to court services officer; maintains statistical data for periodic review and reporting; provide assistance to victims in filing Protection from Abuse Order
petitions; and makes referrals for further assistance.
Coordinates restitution when financial loss has occurred; acts as liaison between victim, court services and fee accounting; investigates status of restitution upon request of victim and provide appropriate information and referrals; informs prosecuting attorney when Crime Victims Compensation or insurance company subrogates parties to restitution.
Facilitates a one-hour Domestic Violence Information Session for victims; provides guidance to program volunteers; participates in the development of outreach programs and materials for the public and service providers to educate and help identify the physical and physiological signs of abuse.
Completes special requests by prosecuting attorney; prepares and coordinates victim and witness for court hearings, testimonies, and trials; schedules meetings between prosecutor and victims; notifies victims of charging decisions, case progress and upcoming court procedures; attends first court appearance with Domestic Violence victims.

One (1) year of related work experience. Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services or related field.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

* Monitors classroom enrollment and attendance. Documents in ChildPlus phone contacts and home visits regarding absences and family issues.

The Family Support Coordinator will develop and maintain relationships with families enrolled in Project Eagle programs and ensure that they receive comprehensive services throughout their participation in the program. Develop and maintain meaningful, productive relationships with families. Identify and respond to the unique life experiences of Project Eagle participants. Complete home visits according to family need, program schedule, policies and procedures. Refer and link children and parents to needed services.
Collaborate with Education Staff to facilitate children's transitions. Communicate with education and care staff regarding infant/child's progress in the classroom. Schedule and attend two parent-teacher conferences and two home visits per year with each assigned child's primary care teacher.
Develop rapport and trust with parent(s) and primary family members. Ensure participation in parent involvement activities per Head Start Performance Standards including assisting with organizing and providing ongoing support to Parent Committees. Coordinate with Teachers to plan and conduct monthly classroom Parent Meetings with Teachers and parents.
Develop and maintain current Individual Family Partnership Agreements for all families on caseload, establishing goals, reporting outcomes, brokering and referring for services, monitoring progress.
Administer screenings and assessments as required.
Help families identify and access needed resources including health, mental health, social services, education, transportation, and job training. Advocate and make referrals for families in need of community resources. Provides follow-up and documentation of each service rendered. Coordinate/provide training for parents in all aspects of family support services.
Approach difficult family and individual issues in a positive manner that leads to growth. Promptly document all interventions with families and notify supervisor immediately of any unusual or at-risk situations.
Participate in Child and Family Review, Parent-Teacher Conferences and IEP and IFSP staffings as required. Participate in all research efforts as required by Educare Kansas City.
Participate in staff development activities and demonstrate increased knowledge, understanding and ability to transfer knowledge to practice with families.
Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and various conferences as requested.

COMMUNICATION
Maintains communication with teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students. Provides health services, information, and counseling in an effective and positive manner to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. Completes accident/incident reports for students/staff.
Compiles data for statistical purposes. Maintains confidentiality regarding educational records.
ORGANIZATION
Maintains a daily log of school/staff visits and documentation. Maintains the daily environment of the health office facility and supplies. Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties. Performs other related work as required.
