What You Will Do
Applies mutually shared and lived experiences navigating the systems of care as a caregiver. Serves as a role model, advocate, and mentor for children and families

A Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is a family-centered, place-based primary prevention approach, where all members of the community have access to and may benefit from both structured or spontaneous activities and events (called “offerings”) that strengthen family protective factors to increase child and family well‑being and promote stability. FEC offerings are available to everyone, regardless of current or past child welfare involvement.
The goal of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is to enhance child and family well‑being by providing access and support to enable the strengthening of family protective factors inherent in its residents and community by building mutual community connections, capacity, and resilience.
In partnership with FEC staff, families will drive the planning, development, and sustainable co‑ownership of the centers. Families who participate in the FEC programming will be encouraged to share their expertise by volunteering at the center and given meaningful opportunities to engage with neighbors and peers. The goal of the FEC is to strengthen families' protective factors and build community connections, capacity, and resilience.
Position Summary
The Family Advocate is responsible for contributing to the day‑to‑day operation of the FEC including building connections with other staff, residents, and community partners; co‑designing and delivering relevant programming and activities (offerings); providing advocacy and making referrals for participants; and creating a warm and inviting gathering place for families and individuals using the protective factors model to support community resilience.
Responsibilities
Coordinate meetings, provide support, and collaborate with a team of local parents, subject experts, and other residents to deliver monthly events and activities (offerings) held at the FEC.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
The Family Peer Advocate works with pregnant and post-partum persons who misuse drugs or have a substance use disorder in a variety of community-based and institutional service delivery settings as well as in the community-at-large. The major functions of this role are to provide recovery coaching and peer advocacy to the identified population. The Family Peer Advocate offers education about available substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery services, harm reduction techniques and supplies as well as collateral and supportive services. The Family Peer Advocate works to reduce stigma through sharing of their own lived experience.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establishes a respectful, trusting relationship with program participants.
2. Assists participants to identify and build on their strengths and resiliencies.
3. Assist the individual in identifying basic needs.
4. Conducts outreach and educational presentations on access to substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery services with the identified population.
5. Conducts outreach and educational presentations on a range of collateral services such as healthcare, dentistry, psychiatry, rental and housing assistance, health insurance options, legal assistance, domestic violence victim's services, vocational training and remedial education with the identified population.
6. Provides guidance and resources to help participants access desired services.
7. Maintains certification as opioid overdose reversal trainer.
8. Provides opioid overdose reversal training to program participants and distributes medication for opioid overdose reversal.
9. Delivers harm reduction education and provides harm reductions supplies such as fentanyl test strips, wound care kits and safer sex supplies.
10. Escorts persons served to appointments with service providers when desired.
11. Facilitates warm hand-offs with network service providers during transitions in care.
12. Provides recovery coaching services with the identified population.
13. Provides guidance, support and advocacy to facilitate engagement in recovery activities, treatment and collateral services.

About the Role

Conduct solution-oriented family meetings to assess obstacles, and make recommendations for increasing attendance and prompt arrival
Create and implement supportive intervention programming to increase safe behavior on the bus to and from school

About You (Qualifications)
Language Proficiency: Complete fluency in Spanish required

Family Service/Community Partnerships • Implement the system for Family and Community Engagement Services. • Implement a system of services, record keeping, and reporting of the Family Partnership Agreement and assure its alignment to the Parent Family Community Engagement Framework. • Assist in being the program resource for consultation, information, and referral regarding community resources to staff and client families • Completes family service home visits and Needs Assessments • Completes other related activities and duties as assigned. Health and Disabilities • Support families obtain their infant/toddler's health requirements, such as vaccines, annual health checkups, dental/oral health exams, etc. • Follow up with parents and doctors on infants' and toddlers' health requirements, and ongoing health care, including access to a medical and dental home. • Responsible for tracking and documenting health events in the program's data management system. • Conducts Health home visits, screenings, and assessments with families. • Utilize the Arizona State Immunization System (ASIIS) database to capture children's immunization data. • Monitor children's health reports and works collaboratively with the Health Services Team. • Support the referral process for children with possible special needs and works collaboratively with the Education/Disabilities Team, teachers, and parents. PHYSICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The ability to see at a normal distance, hear normal conversations and sounds, and use hands and fingers to fill out the required forms. About the Role
The Home Study Case Worker plays a critical role in evaluating a potential sponsor's ability to provide a safe, stable, and supportive environment for an unaccompanied child prior to reunification. This includes conducting in-depth, trauma-informed home visits; verifying information gathered by the care provider; and assessing all potential risks, protective factors, and support needs. The HS Case Worker collaborates closely with the HS Supervisor and relevant stakeholders including the care provider's case manager and clinician, the sponsor, and, when necessary, family members of the sponsor or minor to ensure the child's safety and well-being. Home Study services are provided throughout the New York City tri-state area and nationally. This role requires frequent travel across states and may include overnight stays to complete in-person assessments as needed.
What You'll Do
Initiate contact with the referring care provider (e.g., case manager, clinician) upon case activation to review the child's background and coordinate information-sharing
Review the child's history to guide a trauma-responsive approach and ensure age-appropriate, culturally sensitive engagement throughout the assessment process.
• Provide Home Study services by conducting in-home assessments and interviews with sponsors and household members to evaluate safety, caregiver capacity, and readiness for reunification.
• Identify and flag any red Flags or safety concerns (e.g., abuse, neglect, trafficking, special needs, or risk of exploitation) and maintain high-level communication with the HS Supervisor to discuss concerns, timelines, or case support needs.
• Educate sponsors on reunification responsibilities, including providing a safe and stable home, supporting access to education and healthcare, complying with immigration obligations, and fulfilling the Sponsor Care Agreement. Ensure sponsors are informed of the child's rights, including the right to attend school, be protected from abuse or neglect, and access essential services.
Submit high-quality Home Study reports within 10 calendar days of referral acceptance, ensuring accuracy, objectivity, and alignment with ORR and agency standards.
Routinely audit and maintain accurate Home Study case Diles (physical and electronic), ensuring all required documents are complete. Close out cases in accordance with ORR and program guidelines, including timely updates to the UC Portal and internal trackers.
Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or trafficking in accordance with state-specific mandated reporting laws and ORR procedures.
Be available and Flexible to accommodate evening, after-hours, and weekend work as needed to meet case deadlines and report requirements.
Complete all required ORR and agency trainings and remain current on child welfare policies, best practices, and program protocols
Participate in regular supervision, case staffing, and team meetings, both virtually and in person.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain clear, consistent, and timely communication with supervisors. Given the fast-paced nature of the program, strong communication is essential to ensure alignment of priorities, deadlines, and case needs

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage high-volume report writing and meet strict deadlines.

Work Environment:
This hybrid role requires three in-office days and two remote days per week, with Flexibility for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as needed to meet report deadlines and expectations.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $63,922.56. While the program primarily operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, a 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM schedule is also available. Flexibility is required, as staff will frequently need to work evenings, weekends, or holidays for case-related matters, including accommodating sponsor availability, fulfilling travel requirements, or ensuring timely completion of Home Study reports in accordance with ORR deadlines.

Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
Ability to adapt to evolving program policies, procedures, and federal guidelines.

Demonstrated Flexibility in meeting program demands and adjusting to organizational or policy-driven changes.
