RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Guardian Scholars Supervisor, support a caseload of approximately 25-35 high need youth requiring daily driving to meet youth where they are in the community.
Implement evaluation and assessment tools to ensure programmatic data and outcomes can be collected and analyzed for outcome management.
Support youth trainings and workshops, as needed.
Ensure Salesforce is up to date with accurate files, notes, and documentation. Salesforce must be updated daily per phone calls, emails, and visits.
Conduct monthly in-person meetings with youth to address challenges, track progress, and provide support, supplemented by additional check-ins via phone, text, or email as needed.
This position requires regular evening and weekend hours to meet participant needs.
Address any youth issues as they arise including career navigation, homelessness, and academic needs.
As part of the team, support youth development program components including but not limited to college and career tours, Women's and Men's Leadership Network, Advocates for Change, care packages, Mentoring Department, internships, Guardian Scholars Resource Fair, and youth training and events.

As a PRN Residential SUD Counselor, you will provide support to our full-time counseling team and assist with group counseling, documentation, resident interactions, data entry, and other day-to-day program needs. This is a non-caseload position, designed to help maintain continuity of services during staff absences, high census periods, and agency needs.

Support the facilitation of SUD groups and programming during daytime shifts

Assist with administering daily Med Calls
Conduct and document resident drug screens
Complete tasks assigned by the Lead Counselor or Program Manager
Help resolve interpersonal issues between residents when appropriate
Support residents in following residential rules and routines

Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR, and agency policies

Assist with inventory check and notify the facility manager of anything that need attention
Document all shift activity in KIPU

Work with emotional problems including assisting resident/family with anxieties and stress caused by illness and admission to the facility, difficulties in coping with residual physical disabilities, fears related to helplessness and death, and the need for institutional and specialized care.
Evaluate social and family information and assist in determining plan for social treatment.
Meet with department personnel, on a regularly scheduled basis, to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services Assist in obtaining resources from community social, health and welfare agencies to meet the needs of the resident.
Assist in making outpatient appointments as ordered and schedule on site ancillary patient services to include optometry, podiatry, dentistry and psychiatric services.
Assists in discharge planning with appropriate agencies, entities or individuals to include agency services, equipment and agency referrals.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility, and outside community health, welfare and social agencies, to assure that social service programs can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.

Assist in the development of the department's budget.
Report suspected or known incidence of fraud relative to false billings, cost reports, kickbacks, etc.
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.

Key Responsibilities:
Uphold and promote the mission, philosophy, values, and direction of McAlister Institute.
Maintain an active caseload of clients, providing individual and group counseling in adult and/or teen programs.
Conduct comprehensive, individualized screening and assessments, including the ASI and ASAM PCC to determine the needs of clients and develop individualized treatment plans.
Facilitate evidence-based, culturally competent, trauma-informed treatment programs and interventions tailored to the specific needs of the population served.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including social workers, therapists, case managers, and medical professionals.
Educate clients and their families about the recovery process and available resources.
Coordinate with community resources and provide referrals when necessary.

Requirements:
Certified or Registered SUD Counselor (CAADE, CADTP, or equivalent required).
Minimum of two years' experience in behavioral health services.
Experience working with adult populations in a counseling or therapeutic setting.
Demonstrated success working with the unique needs of clients referred through agencies such as the Probation Department, Child Welfare Services, Dependency Drug Court, and the criminal justice system preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated empathy for, and knowledge of the needs of clients with co-occurring conditions.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices in substance use treatment.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and the ability to apply it in counseling.
Proficiency in maintaining confidential client records and case documentation.
Maintains knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
Knowledgeable about harm reduction, trauma-informed care, patient-centered care, and motivational interviewing.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including the impoverished, unhoused, and those suffering from chronic substance use and/or mental health challenges.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, adaptability, and professionalism.
Exudes a calm and competent manner, able to converse with medical professionals, lay persons, as well as persons or families and defuse crisis or high intensity situations.
