Position Overview
The Families First Home Visitor works with families using a strength-based and solution-focused approach to promote positive parent-child relationships, support healthy childhood growth and development, enhance parenting skills, promote safety and well-being, and connect families with their community. The Families First Home Visitor reports to the regional Public Health/Community Team manager and in conjunction with the Public Health Nurse who provides reflective supervision and coordination for guidance in regional day-to-day operations.
Families First is a community-based resource designed to promote healthy growth and development of children by supporting families, in their homes, during pregnancy and the first five years of a child's life, for a period of up to three years. A Families First Home Visitor works as a member of an inter-disciplinary team and is responsible to initiate and maintain regular connection through family-centered home visiting. The incumbent will utilize an evidence-informed curriculum and share activities that support positive parent-child interactions. In consultation and with guidance from Public Health Nurses, the Home Visitor has a responsibility to support families to explore goals related to their family's culture and values. The Home Visitor implements home visiting practices according to established guidelines of the provincial Families First Program. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and policies of the Regional Health Authority.

About the Job
As an ambassador of the Library, the Crisis Intervention Specialist helps create a welcoming and safe gathering place for the community. Working under the direct supervision of the Library's Crisis Intervention Manager, and with an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Crisis Intervention Specialist will:
Maintain the safety and well-being of patrons and staff on library campuses by responding and assisting with emergency situations on library property.
Contact police, fire department, or other emergency services as needed.
In collaboration with the Library Social Worker, provide referrals to community resources to patrons in need.
Answer routine inquiries and direct patrons to appropriate areas.
Address disruptive or unsafe patron behaviors in a trauma informed manner, using appropriate redirection and de-escalation techniques.

Requirements
Education and Experience

* Providing responsive and effective crisis intervention by promptly employing de-escalation techniques, prioritizing safety, and acting as a first responder to minimize disruptions to instruction and school operations.
* Completing thorough documentation of behavioral incidents and related reports, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies.
* Adhering strictly to universal precautions and emergency protocols, including CPR, First Aid, and procedures for blood-borne pathogens.
* Identifying, reporting, and addressing potential safety hazards, actively contributing to the site's safety committee.
* Actively attending and participating in team meetings, clinical supervision, staff meetings, teacher collaboration sessions, and strategic planning initiatives.
* Participating in professional development opportunities to stay informed about current behavioral principles, strategies, and educational policies.
* Assisting in supervising students during school-related activities, including field trips, bus duties, lunch supervision, playground monitoring, and transportation support as necessary.
* Traveling among multiple site locations during the school day to provide direct classroom support as requested by the Program Director.
* Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned to promote continuous program excellence and organizational improvement.
‖ Qualifications Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent w/ passage of basic skills test.
* Bachelor's degree or higher in a closely related field of study preferred.
* Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a registered behavior technician (RBT) credential.
* Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
* Prior experience working with children, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
* Highly skilled in working with children with severe learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders and/or other related disabilities.
* Prior experience and/or knowledge in positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS), functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's) highly preferred.
* Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals.
* Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation and make independent decisions.
* Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
* Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
* Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.

Conduct intake evaluations including functional behavioral assessments and skills assessments
Design positive behavioral treatment and skill acquisition plans with goals tailored to the individual
Supervise and train ABA technicians; implement, model and monitor progress of individualized behavior support and skill plans with ABA technicians
Provide caring support during family conversations to ensure parents fully understand assessment results and treatment recommendations
