Farm Credit Illinois company history timeline

1916

The Association is part of the national Farm Credit System created by United States Congress in 1916 to support rural communities, farm families, and agriculture with reliable, consistent credit and financial services.

1937

The United States Department of Agriculture’s farm loan programs were initiated during the New Deal with the Bankhead-Jones Farm Tenant Act of 1937 and continue to be reauthorized in farm bills.

1946

The 1946 Act also authorized federal insurance of farm mortgages in addition to direct lending, allowing the new agency to insure loans to farmers by commercial lenders and the Farm Credit System.

1961

2000

2022
