The Field Laborer is responsible for many aspects to help the day run smoothly and complete jobs on time The Field Laborer must be able to: Perform physical construction including, but not limited to, digging ditches or trenches, backfilling excavations, and compacting and leveling earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers and rakes Communicate with supervisors/foreman. This will include verbal, written or following provided construction plan sets. Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials. Sets final trench grades by hand digging or using trenching tools. Loads, unloads, identifies and distributes utility materials to the appropriate location, according to project plans and specifications. Summary: Primary responsibilities will consist of performing inspections of underground utility systems to detect and assess potential issues essential to the well-being of the communities you live and work in. Training and support will be provided to you in performing the responsibilities. Responsibilities: Assist in locating and performing inspections of underground utility systems through the use of specialized equipment. Prepare the site for inspection and clean-up equipment following inspections, including traffic controls. Assist in digging/excavating pilot holes through concrete/asphalt by using pneumatic powered tools. Construct or dismantle temporary barricades. Following proper safety procedures on all work sites. Assist in maintaining and repairing equipment as needed. Document work completed. Follow all safety processes and procedures and maintain a Safety-First approach when completing daily work tasks. Travels locally as needed to assist with mobilization/demobilization of pump systems on customer job sites. All other duties relevant to field service work as assigned.
