So,... are you ready? JOB SUMMARY: To assist faculty and staff conducting research/extension programs that are in alignment with established protocols regarding agricultural research. Other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES: 50% - Essential - Assist research/Extension personnel in planting, maintaining and harvesting of agronomic crops. 25% - Essential - Assist with data collection of crops in fields and greenhouses. 25% - Essential - Assist in maintenance of facilities and grounds of Research and Education Center. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School or Equivalent RESPONSIBILITIES JOB KNOWLEDGE Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees. BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stand for prolonged period Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period Walk or move about Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc Ascend or descend (i.e. stairs, ladder) Position self to accomplish task (i.e. stoop, kneel, crawl) Recognize or inspect visually Move, transport, raise or lower Extends hands or arms in any direction Perceive, observe, clarity of vision WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to heat or cold Wet or humid Noise WORK SCHEDULE: Standard Hours: 37.5 COMPENSATION INFORMATION Anticipated Hourly Range: up to $18.00/hour Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines. ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Normal Operations Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.     DescriptionDescription is responsible for being apart of the hatcheries Embrex processes. This may include pulling eggs from setters, running them through the clear egg remover, pulling rots, ensuring that each egg is getting vaccinated properly and that all eggs get placed in the correct hatchers. The position is typically scheduled but not limited to Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday 5:00pm to 3:00am. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Is expected to partake in the hatchery quality control program, animal welfare, biosecurity and safety programs. -Be able to comply with the company's low transfer crack assessment expectations. - Be able to ensure that the correct eggs are being pulled and placed into the correct hatchers. -The ability to work in an environment of 100+ degrees for long periods of time and withstand unpleasant smells. -The ability to lift or push or push pull 50 lbs. or more repeatedly. Ability for continuous standing, walking and frequent lifting, turning, twisting, bending, squatting, pushing, grasping, kneeling, reach forward, pulling stretching. -Will be responsible for set up and cleanup of the process, halls, and setters. -Is expected to stay until all duties of the hatchery team are complete to verify quality. -Be trained and able to fill in for any team member absenteeism. -Responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and economical operation by explaining and guiding team members in their duties. Participates with active safety monitoring and reporting of all team members and all areas of the hatchery. -May be asked to participate in the egg set process, transfer and processing of chicks for deliveries and be the lead for any questions or concerns that need to be brought to the supervisors or managers. May be ask to learn how to navigate MTECH program. -Position is responsible for maintaining detailed documentation on transfer or processing. Record keeping for vaccine tracking and egg placement throughout the transfer process and into the hatchers and/or setters. -Monitors all machines/automation and equipment for proper operation and document findings, taking action where indicated. Makes adjustments as necessary or informs Supervisor/Maintenance when equipment performance is deficient and unable to identify immediate action. -May be asked to help in creating and implementing training guides with new team members and/or refresher training for current team members. -May be asked to cross train in other hatchery positions. -All other duties assigned per hatchery leadership team. May be asked to work nights/days, holidays, or weekends. Expectations: -Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety and food safety policies. -Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers and leadership teams. -Does not leave the premises until job is complete. -Follows all company policies and procedures.
