    Description: Title: Flower Farmer Reports to: Garden & Landscape Manager Position Type: Full time, Non-exempt This role supports the cultivation and maintenance of flower production areas, including the flower fields, Chef's Beds, and Flower Hoop House. It contributes to the aesthetic, agricultural, and experiential goals of the farm through sustainable cultivation of flowers and herbs used in floral arrangements, culinary operations, and guest experiences. This position requires professionalism, punctuality, horticultural knowledge, and a strong work ethic. Duties & Responsibilities: Serve as a knowledgeable and professional representative of Los Poblanos and the Village of Los Ranchos community. Assist with daily operations of flower cultivation across all designated farm zones, including planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting. Support sustainable soil health practices, such as composting, cover cropping, and organic fertilization. Maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems, ensuring optimal efficiency and appropriate watering schedules. Ensure the visual, ecological, and functional upkeep of garden areas, including pathways and adjacent landscapes. Perform regular maintenance of planting beds, including weeding, mulching, pruning, and seasonal plant care. Create floral arrangements for guest rooms, events, and on-site offerings as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm areas and infrastructure, including hoop houses, acequias, storage facilities, and tool sheds. Assist in farm-wide initiatives and grounds keeping tasks, including occasional support with the lavender. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions: · Implement flower-focused agricultural systems and monitor plant and soil health. · Analyze field conditions and assist with crop planning. · Maintain and operate irrigation infrastructure, both drip and overhead. · Carry out physically demanding fieldwork including planting, harvesting, and cultivating. · Safely use hand tools, mechanized equipment, and small-scale machinery. · Assist with construction and maintenance of farm structures such as hoop houses and raised beds. · Maintain tidy and safe work spaces, handle compost, mulch, and organic waste effectively. · Track material inventories and assist with ordering supplies. · Maintain documentation of irrigation schedules, harvest yields, and other farm metrics. · Stay current with flower farming best practices, organic techniques, and industry trends. · Assist with snow removal and seasonal weather preparation as needed. Requirements: Requirements: Experience with irrigation system setup, maintenance, and scheduling. Proficiency with garden tools, farming equipment, and greenhouse systems. Intermediate horticultural knowledge with an emphasis on cut flowers. Ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team setting. Strong time management, record keeping, and organizational abilities. Self-motivated with strong attention to detail. Positive, guest-oriented attitude with a professional demeanor. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods. Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and walking on uneven terrain. Preferred: Interest in sustainable and organic farming practices. Familiarity with heirloom, open-pollinated, and non-GMO varieties. Initiative in recognizing and supporting infrastructure or workflow improvements. Comfortable engaging with guests. Spanish language proficiency. Willingness to learn and align with the mission and values of Los Poblanos.
