Plan, design, and manage a variety of owner-driven civil engineering projects
Organize and complete projects from inception to completion
Support internal and external clients on Land Development related projects
Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and client consultants
Balance internal and external project schedules and staffing
Prepare project proposals
Assist with business development efforts
Assist the professional growth and development of Junior staff
Specific Requirements:
BS in Civil Engineering
15+ years of civil engineering experience
Professional Engineer (PE) License required, Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) a plus
Strong team player that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
Strong background in site design for both greenfield and redevelopment projects
Strong background and working knowledge of IDOT Standard Specifications and requirements
Extensive experience with municipal/development related transportation projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Sanitary sewer, water line and storm water management design experience a plus
Ability to effectively manage clients and participate in business development activities
AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience
Contract and negotiating skills

Job Activities:
* Review roadway plans to identify conflicts with existing utilities
* Design civil relocation plans for telecommunications and other utility projects using MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other design software
* Plan and oversee work production to meet project deadlines and budgets
* Technical oversight, training and mentoring of less experienced staff
* Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate efforts with support groups ensuring a quality, on-time product for our clients, and financially successful projects
* Review projects for accuracy, quality, and adherence to client specifications
* Provide direction and support for permit plans and work prints drafted in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, etc.
* Provide office support for site visits and participate in site visits which may include overnight travel
Specific Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
* 4+ years of engineering experience
* Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
* Experience in utility relocation design, utility coordination, or roadway design
* Positive work ethic and excellent communication skills
* Ability to effectively manage time while working on several projects concurrently
Desired Skills:

THE ROLE
The Project Manager will lead the planning, designing, permitting, assisting, funding, bidding, and performing of construction administration as it relates to civil engineering water and wastewater infrastructure work. THE ROLE

POSITION

Summary/Objective:
Under general supervision, performs on-site construction engineering work requiring the application of standard techniques, methods, and procedures gained through construction engineering experience. Responsible for construction and materials inspection tasks for assigned projects and may work on non-routine and increasingly complex assignments. Monitors and documents progress and helps ensure adherence to contract and subcontract terms, performance, quality requirements, and engineering specifications. Conduct work with minimal supervision, exercising good engineering judgment and initiative

Education/Experience

THE ROLE

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Municipal Civil Engineer in one of the below posting locations. In this role, you will be focused on the planning, design, and management of various civil engineering projects including water/wastewater/stormwater for local and government agencies. Job Activities:
* Manage, support and build relationships with clients and agencies
* Work with a variety of projects for municipal client needs related to water, sewer and streets
* Conduct field inspections, measurements or calculations
* Perform condition assessments
* Prepare and develop construction, design documents and plans
* Manage projects and programs from inception to completion
Specific Requirements Desired:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
* 2 - 5 years of Civil Engineering experience
* FE or PE Certification, or expected to be obtained
* Experience with IDOT, MFT and local agency projects
* Experience or understanding of working with state and local authorities
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D
* Ability to work both in the office and field for construction engineering and observation
* Management, communication, and organization skills
