Primary Responsibilities
Operations:
Operate heavy equipment (dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, excavators, grinders, compactors) efficiently and safely
Produce a consistent quality product with no customer complaints
Coordinate with R & M and transportation to insure necessary equipment, fuel, tools, and materials are available
Work directly with R & M to ensure all equipment is operating at a safe level
Perform manual labor when necessary
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Other duties may be assigned
Complete daily inspection of equipment at start and end of shift
Clean off machines inside and out daily (tracks, cab, lift arms, battery boxes, buckets)
Ensure equipment is fueled and serviced daily.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required by R & M
Complete daily equipment inspection sheet
Complete daily labor/equipment log/form
Follow all safety guidelines
Qualifications & Requirements High school graduate or GED equivalent
Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operation
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
Able to follow verbal and written instructions
Able to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
Able to work very flexible schedule
Incumbent will be required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and ambulate around the production site
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
Exposure to loud noises, hot/cold temperatures, dust, and other environmental factors

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major equipment training project. Candidates must be ready and able to travel to our New Jersey facility for hands-on training to learn the equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major equipment training project. Candidates must be ready and able to travel to our New Jersey facility for hands-on training to learn the equipment. Travel may occur frequently (Monday-Thursday/Friday) for the first several months and then periodically through the end of 2026.
Once trained, you'll serve as a Train-the-Trainer, helping to onboard and mentor new team members on equipment operation. After the training is complete, selected candidates will transition to an Equipment Operator II role at our Bryan, OH facility.

· Equipment Operator will learn the role and complete work at the direction of a more senior Equipment Operator or Supervisor.
· Equipment Operator will learn how to operate various pieces of heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner while moving scrap material around the scrap yard for processing.
· Equipment Operator will ensure that all his/her efforts are compliant with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
· Equipment Operator will learn one or more of the following: loaders, drop-ball cranes, material handlers, excavators, pot carriers.
· Safety and coordination with other work onsite is imperative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights including but not limited to loaders, drop-ball cranes, material handlers, excavators, pot carriers.
· Keep the yard clean.
· Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as other equipment, workers, or moving objects
· Perform daily inspections, safety checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs of equipment; check required fluids and grease equipment. Report any equipment deficiencies or malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.
· Cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
· Potential to perform general labor duties which may/may not include sweeping, raking, shoveling/snow removal, general clean-up of work area and equipment, and physically handling materials and supplies.
· Other job-related duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
3 -5 years operating heavy equipment in an industrial setting.
· Basic literacy in English
· Strong communication and time management skills

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

· Understand and follow supervisors' directives (written and oral instructions)
· Flexibility to changing work conditions, assignments, and schedules
